I sold an old Garmin GPS yesterday, for a whopping ten dollars, a little over twenty with shipping. So late in the day, I print out a label for about eight bucks. Today I get an email from them saying please pay your fees, like I'm late or something. Then an hour later another email telling me they took the fees from bank account.
Is ebay going broke and having to hound customers for money twelve hours after a transaction? Or is this simply equity / diversity hire problems coming home to roost?

I've read a couple of threads (just today) of odd eBay 'dun' emails received today . I'm with @chapeau-noir... Wut?

Are you sure the fees were for your current sale or was if for some older sales?
Is this another issue we are suddenly having. I've actually seen this or similar reported by a few sellers just in the last few days.

Okay...that last sentence in my post was a little bit of snark, but everything else I said is true...just wondering why a multi-billion dollar company is hounding me for $7.75....

Absolutely. I go over everything on the relevant ebay pages and do the math, old school, pen and paper....this was for a twelve hour old sale....

I also got an email yesterday that said that I needed to pay fees that were due. I looked at the transaction details and there were 3 sales where the shipping costs didn't add up correctly - - totaling exactly $60 overcharge to my acct. Now lets see about getting refund on that.

Good luck with that. Recently I refunded back to a buyer part of the shipping they paid that I did not use. I called ebay and said what the heck and the lady told me they dont do refunds on fees any more in a case like that. I guess the 25% we pay in "fees" is not enough...and yes it is 25% and not the claimed 12.5%...if you add in the FVF we pay on shipping...if we are being honest that is ridiculous...

You can add 'handling' to the shipping cost and therefore you should add 13% so the buyer is paying the fee.
Then you are paying 12.55% of the item.

Upon further review I found (with the help of Jamuel on online chat) that I had added declared value charges relating to the expense of the items. These exact charges are not shown on the Transaction details for the shipping label fees.
This is simple accounting. Things have to add up. My fault for not remembering the DV charges but eBay should show accurate details on their Details pages.

It wasn't too clever, no. 🙄
My suspicion is that the shift to everyone being billed on the first of the month may be triggering this behaviour. I wouldn't take it personally.

So you think there should be some kind of a threshold before they seek payment from those that owe them money? What should that threshold be? Why would they not be entitled to what you owe them if it falls under whatever threshold you feel it should be?
This problem is so easily resolved. Pay them and they will stop hounding you.

Two things.
Ebay does NOT refund fees on partial refunds.
No category on Ebay pays 25% in selling fees. You must be including shipping costs in there which are NOT selling fees.
