So class action needed?

Anyone else having their Seller money being held for no reason? Since Ebay does not pay interest on money being with held for payment, I do believe this is grounds for a lawsuit.

Re: So class action needed?

You can "find it quite idiotic" all you want but ebay IS holding money for "no reason" - so is Etsy. When we respond to Ebay or Etsy they don't know why the accounts have been put on hold. They say "I'm sorry. Your account looks good on our end."  Wait till it happens to  you and then come back and respond how "idiotic" it is.

Your holds could be related to the most recent feedback you received.

Re: So class action needed?

Yes you are so bright thank you for brightening our world. Topic is how eBay calculate fees and subtract that not from TOTAL but the items sales price. Once IRS finds that out they will brighten eBay very well

The IRS of a already aware that most, if not all payment providers, charge their fee on the total amount processed, including the sales tax.

Re: So class action needed?

Ebay dropped paypal and demands bank info. I and many others are not doing it. They email you but leave no path to email them. Our money is frozen until we give bank info. I have taken steps to close my account but will only return our money when we give bank info. We and others are keeping an eye out for class actions lawsuits for this!

Re: So class action needed?

Well, always many threats of class action lawsuits on the boards over this. Let us know if you ever find one thats actually started. The funds for that October sale you had should eventually turn up in your states unclaimed funds dept..maybe in a year or two, so watch for that.

No, actually the topic is about ebay putting holds on sellers' funds. You were complaining because they were holding your funds although you were a 15 year member. I was simply stating one possible reason for your hold.

Re: So class action needed?

Yes. Ebay took $1,700 of our money. A formal complaint has been submitted to the office of Josh Stein, Attorney General for the State of North Carolina and Rob Bonta, Attorney General for the State of California.

Backstory:

We sold a parts generator to an individual in Las Vegas for $ 1,700. It was sold in the category, "For Parts Only. Not Working" and listed as "Local Pickup."  Buyer asked that we crate and take to a shipper. We agreed (at our cost)  Buyer received the unit and determined that no parts were usable for his broken unit.  He then said it wasn't as described - as in, it's not working.

Keep in mind, with Ebay's high commissions, we only got to keep approx $ 1,400 of the 1,700.  And they collected a commission on the SALES TAX they collected - charged to me, of course.  THEN they paid the buyer $ 1,700 from me (partly to compensate him for the shipping fee., regardless of the fact that he purchased an item listed as "Local Pickup.")  So... buyer gets to keep my generator and my money.  Where I come from, that's grand theft, a second degree felony (5-8 years in an NC State Prison upon successful conviction)

This is nuts.  And is now my new project. Sans Vaseline.

Sounds like you didnt respond to the case with a return label, and refund after return? And Ebay will always charge a fvf on the complete sale, item price, shipping and tax.The buyer is always entitled to be made whole with a snad case. Not sure where you are getting your legal advice from, best to consult an actual attorney(be sure to show him the UA you agreed to when you signed on to sell here).Google offers lots of legal misinformation.

You and many others on here are missing the point. The point is ebay is aware they have a problem with their system and have not fixed it. Other sellers have had this exact issue that in some cases have taken months to resolve. Meanwhile their money is being held illegally by Ebay. The lack of critical thinking skills in some of these responses is astounding.

I agree with you.  eBay should first get all the required information to verify the account and then let you sell.

i have been selling and buying on eBay since 2010. I haven’t sold any big ticket items for a while.  Came back this year sold a few things. Just sold a large ticket item they wouldn’t release my $$. Asked me for ID to verify account.  I complied.  Was told the money will be released in 3-5 days. It has been three weeks.
it’s a joke. The fact that no one seems think it’s an issue and smells of fraud is weird.
there is no reason for them to hold peoples

money if they have all the required information.

Re: So class action needed?

They have been holding my money since the 14th. My Christmas is literally ruined because of this, and no matter how many times I update my bank account details, it keeps telling me I never did.

My bank account was ALWAYS working before this happened, and out of all the days of the year, why on earth would you guys do this during the holiday season?

I feel so hopeless at this point

Re: So class action needed?

Ebay is doing this to me and when I asked about it they suspended my account indefinitely claiming I was selling prohibited items. Yet the same items are sold all over ebay everyday.

Re: So class action needed?

Nibbl_46,

Others are selling prohibited items still because eBay can’t remove fast enough as new ones are being listed.

What items are they saying are prohibited so others here don’t get caught up in your situation?

Re: So class action needed?

Yes, it's criminal. I actually had a page changed while I was on the phone with a representative of Ebay. As soon as I said "I can send you a screen shot of what I was told I would have the funds available", I tried going back to same page and after that the wording was different.  Pretty much I wouldn't have used Ebay if my funds where going to be held until the package arrived at the buyers house, I was originally told as soon as a tracking number was shown my funds would be released.  No I can't find that any where. Why would I sell something if I new I needed the money to pay for a bill if I was going to receive a pay check before the funds where released? But Ebay knows they won't receive there $78 they made off my $510 item I sold if I have to wait for the funds. Not to mention interest on my money sitting there for days/weeks. Wouldn't have used them if I thought that was going to happen.  I filed a BBB complaint to. Looking for a class action lawsuit on line and saw this.
