I've been an eBay customer and seller for 15+ years. The rollout of the new managed payments seems to be fairly half-baked, to be honest. Every single time (at least 3 purchases at this point) I try to use the Google Pay option my payment fails. I even get the email notification that my card has been charged when it has indeed not been charged. I then take that exact same card and enter it manually and suddenly everything works as expected.
I cannot imagine that I'm the only buyer experiencing this issue which means you're likely losing cash on sales because people are getting frustrated with this very poor payment experience. My main question is when should we expect a resolution to this?

It's doubtful that any eBay employee will see this, so the next time you have this problem you can try asking for a call back with the link at the bottom of some of the Payment Help pages. You might have to go off topic somewhat to find one. Like looking for paying with a credit or debit card.

Follow-up: As I stated earlier - I've had the exact same experience trying to process multiple GPay payments over the last couple of months. Chatted with an eBay support agent about it today (29 April 2021). They said it's fraud risk protection. So it's not a defect it's a feature. LoL🤔 When I asked why eBay's payment method (PayPal credit card processing) always worked and the payment method which they do not own never works, the CS agent had no response.

The reason is PayPal is US-based, expensive, the gold standard in payment processing.
So when eBay revenged Managed Paybacks on sellers, eBay went overseas to Adyen based in the Neanderthalands, cheaper, satellite delays, translate English to Dutch to Neanderthal to Dutch back to English, to process credit and debit cards.
But to obfuscate that they are cheapskates to replace PayPal with Adyen, eBay also used the oft-broken Adyen to offer "additional payment methods that buyers demand" ApplePay and GooglePay.

EBay is forcing everyone buyers and sellers to use their bank accounts to pay for items from the sellers. If the seller does not comply he will not get paid I assume it is the same if you are a buyer. It's outrageous that they are forcing people to do this. I will not comply to this I am very happy with my PayPal set up. Unfortunately that will be gone by the end of May and at that point I will no longer be selling on eBay unbelievable

No way I am giving eBay my bank account info. They never listen to the eBay community they just do what they want and force changes on you whether you like it or not. PayPal worked flawlessly this new payment system is full of faults. This is a recipe for disaster

Same here. I haven't been able to use google pay in the past 6 months. Everytime it throws an error (on the eBay side). I end up using PayPal to pay with my debit.
Even more frustrating is that Google Pay will still log the payment as successful even though the transaction had an error on the ebay side. So in my Google pay history I see the eBay payment twice! Once for the failed Google pay processing, and once for the successful paypal process. Hopefully eBay or google fix out this problem... It has been several months.

I cannot get GPay to work on ebay whose fault it is, as GPay work just fine elsewhere on the web. Ebay need to stop faffing about and get it sorted.
I've had enough of jumping through Paypal security hoops - signing in, security prompt, Goo's detestable recaptcha... one GPay click and it's done.

I've tried using GP and it fails every time.
My bank shows every attempt as 'Pending'. I did call eBay support and they just asked for a screenshot of the error. I've tried removing and then adding my card to GP but still the same error.
Paypal works fine

I've had this problem too, as a buyer. The error message tells me to check my payment settings, so I did, and in my eBay account there appears to be no way to set up Google Pay as a payment option. Maybe it's supposed to "just work," but clearly it doesn't!

I have a slightly different problem, but once again with Gpay. I have several cards registered on Gpay, but I don't see anywhere an option to chose which one to use for that exact purchase. And even though I have one which is set as default on my Gpay app on the phone, it is another one that appears as the one which will be used for the payment on ebay. Do you know if there is a way to change this?

Disregard my previous comment. I was able to choose a card, but then my problems occured to be the same as all of you - Gpay just doesn't work. The transactin did not appear on my Gpay, but appeared on my Curve account as pending. Still not sure if any money were withdrawn or not. Guess will have to wait and see.
