It may or not work for you but this is my workaround since early 2021. If you are using a computer, login to PayPal in an additional windows tab and select "my pay pal", having both tabs logged in. When you select PayPal checkout on your cart, Ebay then (usually) easily switches to the already active tab and it works for me. Otherwise I have been experiencing the spinning ball for months now or PayPal presents me with endless captcha puzzles and eventually just #$%^s up, going nowhere. The ebay to paypal link has been screwed on some OS and browsers for over a year now and I think it has to do ebay failing to correctly retain and transfer your IP address and paypal does not properly recognize you. I think it is all linked to that ebay problem of making us sign in over and again just to switch from summary to feedback and other pages!

I've attempted to process payment over a tablet/smartphone respectively, and with a bit of ingenuity, I can log in and proceed to the payment selection section of Paypal, but when attempting to actually process said payment, it either forces a reload of the page and errors out, or I get a "Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again." message. I'm not sure if this is a Paypal or an eBay issue, but over the last week, more issues have popped up over the log in process in for Paypal where the 2 factor authentication will jam itself onto the loading/buffering image and refuse to progress... Unfortunately, every other payment I've made that wasn't linked with eBay appears to be working just fine on Paypal, leading me to believe the issue is either one of a security/handshake issue between the 2 services, or it's a straight up eBay thing that's causing the errors.

Having the same problem. I even tried using google pay and receive an error that something went wrong. Have tried different devices/browsers but nothing changes. I hope I am not hit with an non-paying buyer strike for something that isn't my fault!

I had the issue just now. PayPal wouldn't even come up as an option when I clicked "Buy It Now". It went straight to asking for card info. I got around it by clicking "Add To Cart". When I accessed my cart everything worked fine with PayPal.

Hello, last three days I have the same problem and eBay says it is issue on servers on PayPal end, but I don't believe it.
I think that it must be issue on eBay end because more functions have issue on eBay for a long time, for example timing during auctions. Their incompetent programmers do strage experiments, make upset sellers and buyers and systematically destroy eBay!

Hello again,
I tried this bypass for the payment issue and it helped me: 1) Select PayPal on eBay payment page (and add message for seller if you need). 2) Open your PayPal account on the second tab. 3) Update the eBay payment page on the first tab (this is important) and then the payment can be made as usual.
I hope it will work for you too...
