Order total $61.28 minus $8.45 -- Further down on transaction page: Fee based on $64.96. Why is this number so much higher, even if you calculate state taxes into the final sale, it is not this much. I have less than 100 things listed each month. I can not find a break down of how this final fee is so high...

That looks like your buyer's state has sales tax rate of 6%.

I'm in Tennessee, where my cost would have been $66.95. The tax is based on the 'ship-to' address.

I don't even want to figure what my tax would have been in California 🤧

That one did match up but one auction I had, which was listed in the video game category, that fee amount was higher than it should have been with my state tax added. Is there a higher fee for this category, did try to look but thought it was the same fee percentage. I don't understand why they just don't break it down a little more and show exactly how they came to the final amount. They say you save money not using Paypal anymore but I priced out some past auctions and some are $1.50+ more not using Paypal. But they know there's nothing you can do if you still want to sell on here. Thanks for your help.

You can find a detailed breakdown of the fees & percentages charged from your "payments" tab.
Click payments>then summary>then click on your sale, called an order, and it shows all the details.

Your eBay fees are based on the total amount of the item sold price, the shipping & handling charge the buyer paid (unless it was a "free shipping" listing), state sales tax that the buyer paid.
Not clear what this statement means "Order total $61.28 minus $8.45" . Clarify for understanding

I forgot to mention to be sure to then click on the order details 12 digit number to show everything. There is lots of clicking, but that's how the seller hub works.

Thanks for your help. They def could have that page set up different. My next grip is someone bought an item and it's being shipped to an US address but being charge extra for an international fee due to where the buyer is located. Bring back the old ebay where they were for the sellers more and not gouging you every time you turn around. Why I slowed selling years ago and sold through local groups/pages. Oh well, lol - thanks again!

That international charge/fee could be an exchange rate fee as the buyer is sending funds for payment in another country. Feel confident PayPal did/does the same
When I traveled outside the US and paid for lodging, food, retail shopping stuff, in France, Japan, Mexico, Venezuela, Canada etc. AX or MasterCard, Visa charged me a fee as I paid my credit cards in USD.

OK I got it now - thanks.
So in the end OP got charged the correct amount by eBay. Buyer paid a total of $64.96 x .1255 plus 30 cents = $8.45. No issue it seems.
The previous way the OP would have paid eBay fees of $6.50 (at 10%) plus PayPal $2.18 (2.9% plus 30 cents) or a total of $8.68 - almost 2 bits more - sounds good from here - kick in 2 cents and you can unlock a shopping cart at Aldi's.
For the record PayPal now charges 3.9% to handle money processing.

No it can't. This is a rumor that is simply untrue in Ebay or PayPal. International buyers paying with an currency other than USD can NOT purchase from ANY seller that posts on the US site. If your listings are posted on the US site you can ONLY be paid in USD.
If your listings are posted on the UK site or some other of Ebay's international sites, the the currency of that country is what you will be paid in.
For most of us that means we will NEVER pay a conversion fee.
The international fee that we pay is if your buyer's account is set up in a different country than the US. Even if they ship to a US address. There is a 1.65% fee in MP for this. In PayPal the fee before they had increases was 1.50%. This is a fee that we have all paid for many years.

I see there might be a few things you have yet to nail down how MP handles them.
