I don't care for the new system at all. The payment from my customer should be available immediately as it was before. With Paypal payments from customers the funds were available to my Paypal account immediately. It was so simple (ie: customer pays and dollars are in Paypal acct immediately - I ship and cost of shipping is taken out customer payment in Paypal acct - balance is available for my access to use from Paypal acct or transfer to my bank account within 24 hours). Now Payment from my customer is tied up with eBay's way of processing for 4-5 days. Now I have to pay for shipping and send my package before I even have the funds. So my money is sitting somewhere out there, most likely earning interest for someone else. If a change is going to be made, it should be for the good. This change was NOT in the best interest of eBay sellers.

That's a false economy. Printing labels = printer ink being used up = printer ink costs £££, which I save by penning the sellers' address on the envelope. The idea that printing something instead of writing it saves money is ludicrous. Let's put it this way: Ebay is saving money and so they don't care what we think. People are entitled to switch platform if they don't like it and there's plenty who can pick up the slack.
Let's face it: having to wait days to process money in 2021 is pathetic. I know it's the norm, not just Ebay's time-frame, but it doesn't make it any less ridiculous in the digital era.

You still have to buy a printer. Not many people still own one, at least here in the UK, because they are not as essential as they used to be, since so much is done digitally these days.
So, should I buy myself a printer just to print off Ebay's labels? I don't think so.
The point is that Ebay switched systems because it suited them, but they should have offered a service which was equal to what they were providing via Paypal, i.e. instant payments. They didn't and they don't. Hopefully, they will realise how bad their current system is and make it better.
Have a nice day 🙂

I can't answer for the country you are in, but here in the US it is absolutely LESS expensive to print online labels.
Online USPS rates are a whole lot cheaper than full retail you have to pay if you hand write your labels and use stamps or go to the post office to purchase your postage.
As to the actual cost of printing labels, that can be controlled too. For sellers that ship quite a few packages a year, a thermal printer is a good investment. NO INK required. Just some electricity and labels. These printers aren't very expensive and typically will pay themselves off with the money you save in just a few months if not less.

I may leave eBay. Not worth selling there anymore.

And for those honest ones among us you file IRS Schedule C, this is going to be a bookkeeping nightmare to determine ones final profit in order to pay tax on it. Now, it is very easy to figure out, but with MP, it won't be.
God help those who stay on eBay.

While MP's reports could certainly improve, they do have the information we need for tax purposes. You are assuming something that you haven't yet had the opportunity to even use.
And lets remember, Ebay reports should be supporting documentation that you use to check your books against. Meaning you should be keeping your OWN records. The reports from Ebay and PP should be ones you use to cross check your books to make sure you are accurate, not the other way around.

I WORKED FOR A REALLY BIG COMPANY THAT PULLED SOMTHING LIKE THIS EVERYBODY AT THE MEETINGS WERE SHAKING THEIRS HEADS BUT THE UP ABOVES THOUGHT IT WAS GREAT . WELL IT DIDNT WORK . I LEFT AND ABOUT A YEAR LATTER THEY REALISED WHAT THEY HAD DONE BUT BY THEN IT WAS TOO LATE . THEY THROWN AWAY THEIR BASE AND IT WAS ALL OVER .

With Pay Pal, they gave us access to the funds before the payment was processed and they had the funds to give us.
They knew the payment was good and they would receive the funds in a couple days.
Ebay, waits until they receive the funds to send them to us.
When a credit/debit card is used, they don't receive the funds at the time the buyer pays, it takes a couple days for them to receive the funds.
Well by that logic if Ebay is already discounting their fees in the process they should front the money as soon as they get paid. And what happens if a buyer wants to cancel or return an item before you have the money on your side? They should front it, pure and simple.

My story goes like this.
I have some expensive audio gear. I went into the section to start selling and suddenly ran into a huge wall.
Ebay wanted all my info. I mean all of it. Social security number. EVerything! Yes even my bank Account! So as I sat there and staired at this ebay screen which was requesting my bank account i had flashbacks of when paypal did the same thing and held my money for months for no reason. The scenerio of being a seller and using PayPal is far different from being a buyer and Using PayPal. Difference is that being a buyer means never having large amounts of money sitting in PayPal which a seller does have. Well, now this whole seller process is based on ebay payments rather than PayPal but its reminding me of what people went through with PayPal and all the money holding. Its bullShyt. We all know it. EBay makes so much money and thats not enough so they will hold peoples money and we all know they are collecting interest on it. Bad enough they charge a fee on the shipping price we charge to customers. Anyway, As I sat there and imagined my 2000$ worth of audio gear sitting at someones house while my money was sitting in Ebays bank account. So I backed out and said.. Helllll nooo...
There is just way too many red flags with ebay now.
Lets say for example. I sell a 500$ amplifier. Buyer pays. I dont really have the money for 5 days, But I send that amplifier right away. The buyer gets that amplifier before I actually get paid! What makes it worse is, The seller can even open a dispute! I havent even gotten any money yet! SO Now Im not just without money, I now owe money because I had to take money from money I never had ( pending payment) to send item to buyer and now i have to spend my own money to get item sent back to me due to firced refund policy via ebay guarantee! Dude there is no way I am doing this.. its dumb...
Ill buy things on ebay using paypal. It seems I can still do that. But when that ends... I do believe Ebay will come to an huge halt cause there is no way Id ever trust ebay with any of my personal data after the many many years of scammery they seemingly perpetuated..
BTW. once a person actually gets the money they earned by selling something with this new ebay payment system, is there a option to send a check rather than deposit it into your bank account? PayPal has this. I dont see many sellers liek I use too. I see mostly china sellers and huge companies. The days of mom and pop selling is just about dead completely and its now moved to facebook and small apps and not so popular websites like Audiogon

You can transfer to paypal from the bank your sales funds are deposited into (ironically it won't be instant as paypal transfers to and from banks are notoriously slow and always have been)- as to the rest, it has all been covered so many times in this thread.

If you want to sell on Ebay you now need to be signed up to use Managed Payments. Ebay is phasing out PayPal for sellers on Ebay and hope to have every seller in MP by year's end. Here is some information that will help you make your decision as to whether to stay or go. They are short and easy to read.

This was a move that purely benefits eBay shareholders. There seems to be a lot of support for this new MP scheme, by many on here. Some folk just can't see the wood for the trees.

Yes it would benefit the shareholders. Ebay exist to benefit it's shareholders, after all they are a for profit corporation, not a charity. So I'm unsure why you think this is something that others don't realize. Ebay isn't here just to give us a place to sell on, they are here to make money, just as the sellers are.
MP isn't a "scheme". It is a program that Ebay has developed that is much like the money processing programs on other similar sites. Ebay in fact is the LAST of the bigger sites to bring their own money processing program site wide.

Well, since you put it that way, I like the scheme even less. 😂

Ebay may provide a sustainable adaptation to sellers and buyers soon. Let the time and new change work
