Managed payments shipping costs.

I don't understand shipping costs with managed payments. I mailed a pkg. and shipping was $3.50 but details shows -$11.31.  Why?  Final amount that I received was much less than expected.  Also, if I use paypal for shipping with managed payments, and I didn't use all I charged for shipping, where does the overage go?  Do I get the difference?  How does it get into my account?

When you create your eBay listing you enter shipping information.  The shipping information is used to determine how much the buyer pays for shipping and the shipping service (or choice of services). You may setup free shipping (you pay shipping costs), calculated shipping (eBay calculates shipping charges for buyer based on their location and size and weight of the item), fixed rate, etc. You can also add handling and shipping costs to the price buyers pay for shipping.

eBay credits you the price paid for your item and the shipping paid by the buyer MINUS EBAY FEES.  When you print eBay shipping labels you can choose to deduct the actual shipping you pay from your available funds or, as in your case, use your PayPal account.

Using eBay shipping sellers get a discount - if you do not pass the discount to your buyer (shipping settings in your listing) and/or charge shipping and handling then you keep the difference.

You should see all the money coming in and going out under "Payments" as a series of credits and debits with payouts going to your bank

Seller Hub | Your financial summary | eBay

Click on the various items to get details until there is nowhere to click

eBay creates a Payout credit for the item and shipping (after fees) to go to your bank.

If you paid using existing funds - you would see a debit for the shipping charge

You may also see a debit for the associated ad fee if you used eBay advertising

Your PayPal payments for shipping will not appear here

What method of shipping did you use that only cost $3.50?  Sounds like USPS except that I can't think of any of the current USPS rates that would be 3.50 through Ebay.

Did you create your shipping label in Ebay?  Which box did you check?  To have it paid for by your MP account or have it paid for by your PP account?

From what you posted above I am guessing you had it checked to pay for with your PayPal account.  And if that is correct, you won't see any money coming out of your MP account to pay for the shipping, that would be paid for via whatever method you have set up in your PayPal account.

So in your MP account your pending payment would be for the product purchased plus any shipping fees you charged on the listing.

When your payment hits your MP account they deduct for the FVFs you owe to Ebay.  If you were having MP pay for your shipping, it would reduce this amount by whatever the shipping charges were before it moves to a payout for you.  But since you are having your shipping charges paid using your PP account, you will not have any shipping withheld by MP.

So what you see in MP should be the gross amount the buyer paid [including shipping] less the Ebay FVFs and 30 cent per transaction fee.  The net of that will move to your Payouts when the payment is cleared.

I have to say I'm very puzzled as to why you asked "Do I get the difference?  How does it get into my account?"  You are a seller with a long history of experience.  Ebay has NEVER kept the difference and you should know how it is getting to your account.

For clarity on these details.  Go to your Seller Hub.  Hover over the Payment tab.  From the drop down menu select All transactions.  This list will offer you what has been deducted from each transaction in total.  On the far right is a "view" icon.  Click on that and you will see the details to the transaction.
