I have successfully setup managed payments, have received funds, refunded buyers, withdrawn funds etc. HOWEVER, some transactions take DAYS to process. Even tiny amounts like $4.....
Why is this so slow?
An item sold, the buyer obviously put in all their payment information, what's the hold up? Thanks in advance ebay community.
I am hesitant to ship something that says processing, but hate having to go back and triple check individual orders multiple times to make sure the payment completed. Not to mention I've had to send multiple emails to buyers reassuring them that "I'll ship soon"... It's a waste of time that cannot be avoided.

I have been using managed payments for about a year and I am not certain why some payments take longer to process. First, remember payments are only processed on business days. So a payments received on Thursday - Sunday will seem to take longer to process because of the weekend. I have also read accounts from sellers that some Credit Cards, mainly American Express, take longer to process. I have no way to verify if that is factual.
IMHO, I would not be bombarding your buyers with messages regarding the status of their payments or shipping details. They can see your 3 day handling time, and estimated delivery window on your listings. If they need more info let them message you and then you can respond in a polite and professional manner with details on payment processing and expected shipping date.

@frappsmom
Some cards take longer to process then other cards.
When I was accepting credit cards on one of my sites, most payments would process in a day or two, then there were some that might be 4 -5 days.
If they pay using an American Express card, they take forever to process.

This is true. It's why some stores won't accept American Express cards.

Confused as well. Sold an item, and eBay sends the e-mail with a link to 'print shipping label". Then after I print the label I go in and see the payment is still processing. If a payment had not cleared through Paypal you would get a warning "don't ship just yet". So are we supposed to monitor each transaction and ship once cleared? That's a pain if you state you will ship within one business day. This can't be the new improved process. UNLESS maybe the payment processing means eBay's payout to the sellers bank account. Needs to be clarified.

Man eBay's handling of this is a total CF.
From my desktop, on my "Awaiting shipment" page it says this:
"Awaiting shipment means the buyer’s payment is confirmed and it’s time to ship the order. To see when the funds will be sent to your bank account, visit Payments"
On my phone app, many of the same orders have this warning (?) "Buyer has already paid. Funds are on a temporary hold while payments are processed"
Why am I not seeing the same information on both devices?
So..... do I ship? If I do ship, is eBay not responsible if payment doesn't clear?
Am I expected to meet S&H times without confirmation of a cleared payment? If I wait to ship, am I holding up my payment until I do I ship? And why does it take 3-5 days to hit my account when PayPal was either instant (for a fee) or overnight? Annnnd... how is this better?
Finding information on eBay site is a nightmare; I've learned more from users Youtube vids. Wait time for a call back is 1111 mins last I checked.
So this is all normal.

Now the wait time to talk to ebay is 224 minutes!! This managed payment thing is a nightmare!!

I've been in MP since January, since rolling it out to more sellers the processing time on payments has lengthened. Prior to this, I saw payments clear in usually a day, not anymore! I print out my labels and their cost gets deducted from any lone cleared payment, which then keeps dwindling down! I had a $100 sale, which is down to $50 in available funds, due to related fees and deduction for shipping labels from other orders where payments are still processing and not available for deposit!
A seller is expected to ship within their stated handling time, whether payment shows cleared or not. If this delayed processing keeps up I may have to make a 5 day handling time, as I don't want to front all these shipping fees! I'd rather not do this, as ebay is competitive enough in selling and buyers don't like to wait. I highly doubt all these buyers are using American Express, beyond 2 days for clear funds is ridiculous. I understand paypal fronted the monies, which is why it was available so quickly and sometimes reversed.
There used to be NO wait time to speak with an MP CS. Adding so many sellers into MP has created this processing and CS contact backlog! Ebay should have been better prepared for this. Most disappointing.

My item is still processing after 2 days, and now it’s the weekend, so nothing going to happen until Monday, but I did mail the item I sold in the mean time, now I’m having second thoughts if I should wait until I actually have the money “in my hands” before I mail ANYTHING.
These are strange Covid times, many of us are UNEMPLOYED (me) and need our money ASAP like PayPal used to do. Every penny counts, no sale is too big or too small, we shouldn’t have to wait this long!!!

This new system is odd. Ebay doesn't mind taking your money immediately, but it takes multiple days to get paid. I am having to notify each buyer that I am waiting for payment to clear to ship. This is ridiculous.

I am in agreement with all of you. I jumped in without knowing the details and just assumed it would work similar to PayPal but without directly being PayPal. Now I have listed a whole bunch of beloved items, sold them, shipped most of them...only to realize I have $0 available funds, as they are all "Processing". I am terrified that a payment won't clear, and that Ebay told me to ship the stuff, and I'll end up out both the money and the items. Fingers crossed that this all works out. I had always promised as part of my auction text that I would ship in one to two business days of payment being received. What a stressful nightmare. Seriously hoping that eBay will cover this if a payment doesn't get processed. And/or that the money is actually in their hands, and they are just holding it for "processing" which means they get to keep the interest on it before giving it to the seller.

Wow wasn't expecting this lol sadly too late, already switched 😤
Got ebay notice to hurry up and switch the other day as their "deadline" to switching everyone over was approaching. Did it not thinking much of it, easier they say, ok let's try.
Got a few orders, heard the $$ sound, got the notice they paid and get ready to ship. Did so like I usually do.
Now noticed ebay is still processing those payments to me. Why the heck tell me to ship? If it's a business day issue, I'm gonna have to change my shipping schedule. I never minded shipping during the weekend, means on Monday or Tuesday the costumer is often receiving it. Paypal made sure I had my funds immediately, especially if I'm low on funds and relying on those funds to even be able to ship the item.
Hope this doesn't bite my butt this week if those payments fail, a lot of money

Stop worrying about the payments not clearing. Buyers can't cancel, retract or otherwise cause the payment not to go through when they issue it in MP, anymore than they could when they issued it through PP.
1-2 days for the payment to clear, then transfers happen on the next available Business day if you are on daily deposits or Tuesday mornings if you are doing weekly deposits.
I know it is a different process than you are use to so it can be terrifying while you get use to it. But you will be just fine.

It is January, Ebay's self imposed "deadline" to switch everyone is by the end of 2021. So they have plenty of time to phase sellers into the program.
Always best to learn what a program offers before entering, especially if it is going to control your money.
Payments will NOT "fail" from buyers paying via MP anymore than they did when they processed through PP. So that fear isn't relevant.

I understand. They gotta work on their messaging lol my notice for this literally says Update your account details by February 28, 2021 to continue creating new listings." Guessing they are giving everyone different dates
I did read the information before doing it, however I am fully aware of the horror stories. Been doing it long enough to experience it even with paypal. What I don't want to see and what has happened to some since these managed payments were added, are excessive delays. The old paypal method was pretty straight forward and even alerted not to ship if it picked up an issue.
The old if it ain't broke, don't fix it comes to mind lol not often the case online lol love/hate relationship as always. I still remember when paypal was a new thing on ebay lol it had its bumps, I remember sometimes having to wait well over 5 days to clear back then , ofcourse these days, people want things with speed, so it presents a possible little bottle neck
