Jump on the Leave Ebay Train

Leaving due to the demands of my personal information in the form of a Social Security Number. Good ridden to 15% fees + 0.30 cents extra fee-higher-than-the-Paypal-fee-already-was + all the lying Ebay call center employees in India and the Philippines who said Ebay would refund me the $14.47 they STILL owe me for an overcharge on shipping. Taking my business elsewhere. Outta here permanently! 😝 Now bring on the Ebay shill replies and the deletion of this post.

We didn't need to give our SS#, why did you? You cannot be turned away for the Covid Vac because you would not give your SS#. SUE

I agree 100% that the new payment scheme is terrible and that the overseas representatives are worse than useless to solve any problems.

So they could program the magnetized microchip correctly before they injected it.

P.S. Is your name "SUE," or are you suggesting I sue someone?

I was trying to see what was in your photo but its a little too far away from the items to see whats there. Some items I can recognize are probably not worth listing on Ebay - either because they are dirt common like the stacking blue storage things and the snow shovel or because they would be expensive to ship - especially for dimensional shipping - like again the snow shovel.

Some things are worth selling here because they are easy to ship or they need to reach a wider market to find their buyer. Others are better sold at a table by the side of the road like you showed here. Not everything is worth listing on Ebay for various reasons but some people just cannot figure it out. (My favorites are the ones selling big items needing huge boxes like baby strollers and listing their shipping as Priority mail flat rate large box. Good luck with that!)

Re: Jump on the Leave Ebay Train

As someone said, and I agree 100%...”

Over 20 years on Ebay, and have sadly watched it deteriorate into a professional and foreign seller playform instead of the once great bargain place for individual to trade with other individuals.

When they implemented their Managed Payments so they can get paid their fee sooner by taking it out of each paying before you ever see it, they allowed existing listing to remain active.  Today they sent a messages stating that unless one sign up for MP their existing listings will be purged on 6/15/2021.

Who thinks they will find many people like me that just don't sign up for this new way of doing business and they end up going back to Paypal with their tail between their legs?

I have zero confidence in Ebay's security and could not imagine giving them access to my checking account, nor do i think it would be smart to ship before receiving money.  And having worked in banking settlements for decades it is astounding to see them take 7 days to process a payment when ACH industry regulation is 2 business days.  One top of their higher seller fees they are earning float on your money!  Greedy **bleep**s!”.... in top of this, I would add my opinion: eBay is trying for the last few years to impose “ communist “ rules just to robb more money from sellers/buyers... I’m wondering if only ONE SMART BRAIN at their CEO will realized the damage they are doing themselves!!!

Re: Jump on the Leave Ebay Train

Those like YOU care deeply- that's why you've been posting all over these boards over and over and over and over and over again going years back. This is supposed to be a safe community for all to freely discuss issues, isn't it? Doesn't that mean via "postings on the boards"??

And by the way, it's not "want to leave". I DID leave. Go ahead, check - no more listings. Still great feedback anyone can enjoy reading. 🙂 And it's not "unable to adapt". It's REFUSING to give ALL MY PERSONAL INFO to a private company FOR PUBLIC VIEWING.

Yes, that's right folks, find out about the "Inform Consumers Act" in your State - they want your Govt ID, Tax ID, Bank Info, Contact Info ALL PUBLICALLY AVAILABLE. This is just the first step.

And they pretend to wonder why they get called "shills" or the like. Yep, most of the obsessive ones in the replies are indeed on every thread their keyboard can find with much the same rhetoric going years back. Childish Soviet-style snarkiness is all they've got going. Not once do they try to answer or discuss issues. They waste their own time. Apparently even during Labor Day weekend.

Re: Jump on the Leave Ebay Train

Personally i am not leaving eBay just yet, but i am not registering for MP system either 😉

I have to register to it within few weeks, lets see what happens if i don't.

Don't see any reason to stay on eBay if there are no sales and customer support.... Yet i like eBay and would want to stay...

If only eBay actually paid more attention to sellers no one would be having these discussions and thoughts about leaving eBay.

Re: Jump on the Leave Ebay Train

And just a little more info for those reading and wondering more about the "Inform Consumers Act" which will make all of your private information publically available:

It is being pushed by companies such as Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, and more via their lobby group "Buy Safe America". A few of the companies supporting their "Buy Safe" info grab agenda: 3M, CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Lowes, Home Depot, JCP, HP, GSK, etc.

If you don't make raucous noise against all of these Inform Consumers laws in your State, ALL of these marketplace sites (not just Feebay) will demand your Govt ID, Tax ID, Bank info, Contact info (name, address, phone) and then make it PUBLICALLY AVAILABLE to all involved. Research this topic NOW.

Re: Jump on the Leave Ebay Train

Well I missed that train 2 years ago and I am so pleased I did, still selling, been on MP for 18 months, even though I was dubious in the beginning until I did more research.

What I do dislike immensely is the almost complete lack of seller protection, but that has been the case since the introduction of the MBG many years ago and does seller no favours that is for sure.

MP suits my business model as I was never a paypal fan, took too long to transfer funds from PP to my bank each day and limits of how much I could transfer at once, etc so direct into my bank weekly suits me well -but that is just me and of course not everyone will agree (who agrees on everything, you can't please all the people all the time).
