I was trying to buy a camper on fecesbook market place and was told to get 4/$200.00 Ebay cards to make the purchase. I got the cards and then something the seller said tipped me off to the fact that it was a scam so I didn't go through with the sale and now, I am stuck with these cards and no way to cash them in for the money I put on them. How can I get MY hard earned money back from this? Or is Ebay just as bad as these scammers? I am in a holding pattern with $800. 00 of MY money locked up in this. Please help.
THen when I called to speak to someone at ebay, (I was unsure of the number but there is another company that is posing as ebay and they told me to email email.spoof. something or other and I did but NEVER heard back from Ebay. Is this something that consumers need to come together and speak to someone in a more authoritative capacity to get our money back?????
Please call me as I would really appreciate the help from a human. I need my money back as it is a substantial amount of money and it is mine.
Gabrielle Upton
I have the cards and receipts.

"Even if she didnt give the numbers to a telephone scammer, the gift cards are non refundable, and untraceable, like cash. Scam or not."
Totally agree.

Gift cards are non-refundable. Read the back.

Look on the bright side, you did not lose your money. Sad but most only come here after they have been taken. There are places that buy gift cards but, give less than face value. I'm not sure I would trust them however. See if you can use them for your Christmas shopping or such.
Still you one of the lucky ones !

If she didnt give the numbers over the phone to another scammer pretending to be Ebay..who knows? While I am always sympathetic to these victims, it always astounds me how they want to blame Ebay for their own bad decision.Theres never any personal responsibility.

I'm sorry this happened to you. That said, unfortunately, members come to this forum on an almost daily basis with stories just like yours. The take away here is: if a listing didn't originate on this site, it's NOT part of ebay. No matter how much they might claim their linked to an ebay listing, blah, blah, blah, it's NOT ebay.
As others have stated, it's just a way to scam you out of your money.

"Look on the bright side, you did not lose your money."
Actually, until the OP attempts to use the gift cards, she won't know if there is any money on the gift cards.
From the OP's statements, she may have shared the eBay gift card numbers with some possibly phony eBay phone center, or some equally possible phony eBay email. The OP has not yet clarified if she had given away that information.
But, if the cards are now useless, the only "bright side" is that the OP can deduct the $800.00 theft on her income taxes.

I am unsure just what it is you are upset about
you need to give yourself a pat on the back and stop playing the victim
there was no loss at all, you still have the money on the cards
you rescued yourself but want us to feel sorry for your good sense of clairvoyance
this is sort of a non issue now.is your life going to tatters because you dont have the camper but still have the $$ on a card

@bonjourami wrote:"No one is cheated for getting a refund of unused Gift Cards."
As it states on the back of every gift card, gift cards are non refundable.
I stand corrected. Thank you very much.

Only way I see really is over the next weeks or months or whatever, get your normal weekly this n that's you would normally get at your local stores through ebay instead then use the card to pay. If you buy $ 85.00 worth of stuff then transfer $85.00 from your checking to your saving. It'll take longer but you will still recover the money spent in the end. There is no instant gratification on this one. And don't let anyone talk u into showing them any of the last 4 digits, for any reason. Of the 13 digits ebay happily prints 9 of em crisp and clear in the bottom Left corner like their in on it or something. Just seems like such a mindless thing to do. Scammer'll try to convince u it's just to be sure it's not a fake card cause they got burned before. "It's only 2 outta 13 digits or 4 outta 13 digits how could it possibly be useful to me" well it is cause the rest are right there front and center. Even if they see only 2 there's only so many configurations of the other 2 digits. They'll figure em out quick and every penny will be gone in a blink

I'm surprised it hasn't been locked down by now.
