I was trying to buy a camper on fecesbook market place and was told to get 4/$200.00 Ebay cards to make the purchase. I got the cards and then something the seller said tipped me off to the fact that it was a scam so I didn't go through with the sale and now, I am stuck with these cards and no way to cash them in for the money I put on them. How can I get MY hard earned money back from this? Or is Ebay just as bad as these scammers? I am in a holding pattern with $800. 00 of MY money locked up in this. Please help.
THen when I called to speak to someone at ebay, (I was unsure of the number but there is another company that is posing as ebay and they told me to email email.spoof. something or other and I did but NEVER heard back from Ebay. Is this something that consumers need to come together and speak to someone in a more authoritative capacity to get our money back?????
Please call me as I would really appreciate the help from a human. I need my money back as it is a substantial amount of money and it is mine.
Gabrielle Upton
I have the cards and receipts.

Sorry you will not get your money back:
That steal of a deal was to steal from YOU.
No camper.
No poor little old me.
No ware house.
No free shipping.
It was NOTHING
but a fast way to get YOUR money.
eBay had NOTHING; repeating it NOTHING to do with this.

PLEASE do not call eBay. They will freeze your cards and then you will play hell getting them unfroze.
There's no refunds on gift cards. Either use them here or you can sell them to a site that buys gift cards.

Read the user agreement that came with the Gift Cards. Sometimes there is a procedure to stop payment for a fee and get a partial refund.
You could also check with the Federal Trade Commission and see what advice they may be offering.

Why should they stop payment and screw the store out of the money for the cards? They bought 4 gift cards. They have 4 gift cards.

Did you provide the eBay gift card numbers on any of the phone calls or emails that you used?
If you did, those gift cards are probably useless now -- the money is long gone.
This a very old scam, used on Facebook, Craig's List and other platforms -- but it is NOT eBay -- eBay sales are on eBay, and NOT on other platforms.
Again -- if you gave out the gift card numbers to "someone" on a phone number "that is posing as ebay," or you provided those numbers on an "email.spoof" website, your gift cards are probably useless right now, and your money is gone.

I would call my credit card company and stop payment on the charge for the gift cards. Tell them that it was a scam and you have the cards and receipts but you cant get anyone at ebay to talk to you (shocking). They will most likely take care of it for you.

Why would Ebay discuss this with the op when they had absolutely nothing to do with this scam? Better that she reports this listing on the site where she found it, FB Marketplace,Craigslist, Offer Up, etc. And why would her cc stop her payments on the cards when she is in possession of them? Isnt that fraud, or out and out theft?

Hmm advice that is fraud is not good to give.
If the original poster sent proof of purchase gift cards scratched off> they are out the money even if they have the cards. That is the scam. they gave that money away to a scammer. No way to recover it.
Were the cards were purchased had nothing to do with this; They are the one who would lose money if they follow your advice.

Because the OP determined the sale to be a scam and did not use the Gift Cards. Since the Gift Cards were never used there should be a procedure to Stop Payment and get a refund for the Gift Cards minus whatever the Gift Card User Agreement says the fee is for the stop payment.
If Gift Cards were used then a stop payment is not possible.
No one is cheated for getting a refund of unused Gift Cards.

"No one is cheated for getting a refund of unused Gift Cards."
As it states on the back of every gift card, gift cards are non refundable.

Treat your eBay Gift Card redemption code like cash.

But the OP also stated that she had called a questionable "eBay" phone number, which had aimed her to another questionable "eBay" email. We are trying to determine whether the OP had given the eBay gift card numbers to anyone, either during the phone call or the email session, as she may have inadvertently given that information to thieves, rather than to eBay.
And, if so, the gift cards may now be devoid of any value to the OP, and the OP will not be refunded.

Even if she didnt give the numbers to a telephone scammer, the gift cards are non refundable, and untraceable, like cash. Scam or not.
