I cancelled my listings due to problems with Managed Payments, eBay Cannot Confirm My Identity.

Even though I was hesitate to do so, I enrolled in Managed Payments.  After submitting the information, it came back and said everything was fine and I was enrolled.  A few hours later, I get an email stating they cannot confirm my identity.  So I call eBay and the customer service person I talked to told me to do the micropayments option telling me it would be two to three days but it would work.  Well, it didn't.  I had money that was processing and is now ready for "daily payout" but has not been so far because my identity cannot be confirmed so the money is just sitting.  I'm not sure what else they need to identify me.  I never had this problem linking my bank account with Paypal, that was easy.  Do to this problem, I ended all of my listings.  I don't feel comfortable at this moment continuing to sell on eBay when I cannot even get the money I am making off of sales.  It is rather upsetting having to do this because I've been selling on eBay for many years for extra money but I feel like these changes have ruined a once fun platform for selling.  I was hesitate about enrolling after reading all the bad experiences with Managed Payments, given there were some good experiences, but more bad than good.  I just hope that I get the money owed to me.  While not a huge amount, it is still my money.

Re: I cancelled my listings due to problems with Managed Payments, eBay Cannot Confirm My Identity.

I don't understand why eBay have not given us the choice to go with their managed payment scheme  or to stick with Paypal which has worked for me for 17 years.  The latter seems to be the best choice especially as eBay own PayPal! Surely, it makes more sense for PayPal to update eBay's records than asking each individual customer to do it.

Moreover, despite updating my bank details to eBay, they are now saying they cannot verify the info that I  have given them despite the fact that I am the only person who can access my bank account details. They are now demanding that I upload a photo of myself either on a driving license or a passport. However, I am severely disabled and have neither of these documents because I can no longer drive or travel abroad. What am I supposed to do? Perhaps it is time to leave eBay after 17 years of loyalty.

eBay sold Paypal a few years ago now, and I think the plan is to have all sellers switched to MP by the end of this year?

I hated it at first, but not so bad now, although there are a lot of issues need to be ironed out still, glitches and the like.

Hi dhardin76,

I've had exactly the same problem as you. Here's what I just wrote in community:
"I've been trying non-stop to get Ebay's help with a problem with the new Ebay payments system. Under the new system, there is no more PayPal account facility so you need to add a bank account to receive payment. On 3 May 2021, I received an email explaining that my bank account which I had added was not properly verified. I contacted Ebay by Chat and the rep said that, "I hadn't provided the right documents". I said I don't know how that can be, as the method of adding a payment method requires logging into your internet banking and selecting your preferred bank account. I could see that a bank account had been added as my payment method and there were no flags or errors on the account. I even tried adding another bank account to replace the erroneous one, but Ebay asked me to enter the full bank account of the existing bank account as verification. When I did this, I was referred to the, "Chat" feature which isn't available after 7pm. For goodness sake Ebay, can you ever get your act together! Help me out."

ebay has self-destructed the whole selling process. Format changes, broken/missing links, customer service that doesn't speak English so they can't ubderstand nuanced questions, won't give basic help without going through 40 pages of scripts. etc.

Re: I cancelled my listings due to problems with Managed Payments, eBay Cannot Confirm My Identity.

I think you shouldnt cancel your item but try to sell a low-priced item and see how it works.

eBay couldn't verify my Bank Info,  I  didnt receive  eBay's Micro-deposits or an email notification regarding its Micro-deposits.

however,  I  sold a couple of items a couple of days ago, eBay sent  payout  today.  so, lets see if I will receive the money before eBay can verify my bank info.

As far as I know, if the bank account number is correct, I should receive the payment without a problem.  so I'll wait for another 3 days and see what happens.

I'm still waiting on my first payout.  Its been sent 3 times now.  Until I get that I'm done selling.  I've called twice this week and get a different story each time.

My ID is not the problem its my bank account.   For some reason,  it will not go through.  The bank has no pending payments so its on eBays end.  It's either not being sent or is failing along the way.

Sorry, I have got nothing. You can maybe ask for a Call Us Back via Help and Chat if that is still available - insist on speaking to a supervisor, but as you say, the CS is bad and close to non existant as far as knowledge goes.

There used to be a dedicated MP help line, but no idea if that still exists.

You could try via Facebook - Send PM https://www.facebook.com/ebay/

Re: I cancelled my listings due to problems with Managed Payments, eBay Cannot Confirm My Identity.

@dhardin76

If they told you that they are having problems with your identity verification, then it isn't likely a problem with your bank account.  It is with the information provided for your identity.

You may have to call Ebay to find out.

Make sure your registered address in Ebay PERFECTLY matches the address on your bank account.  No PO Boxes are allowed.  It has to be a physical address.
