I have been off Ebay for several years. I just listed an item today. The directions say that you can select either credit card or checking account as the way to receive payouts. But at the payment selection method window
there is a place to indicate credit card, but no where to select and upload bank information -- and no explanation as to why it says you can select it, when there is no way to do so. I have listed an item and fees were taken from me...but how to I get paid if I sell this item?

Need to input bank routing number which connects to a card. Since most people don't use checks anymore...you can ask your bank what is the routing number of your card(s).

I did figure this out....The problem is that Ebay does not present a place for Bank routing information when you are setting up your account. Apparently this is a new thing this year, as payout now may NO LONGER be done through PayPal but only by directing money into a bank account. In order to get paid the seller now has to list an item and then the seller finds out they must provide Ebay with full bank routing information and also with the seller's entire social security number. I don't do that for anyone -- it's really dangerous. I deleted my listing and my Ebay selling account. There are plenty of other seller platforms that do not put you at this kind of risk.

Since they have to report any income over $600, it'll be the same other places, they'll need your SSN.

First this policy has been around at least 2 years. You needed to read your emails. Go to MY EBAY and look in Messages, I bet that you have at least 5 emails from them there about Managed payments. You are going to have to give your social security number and valid ID on every selling platform in the USA that accepts online payments. This is the law in the USA. IF you want to avoid doing this, you will need to leave the country and set up again with a new ID. But warning, I am sure that other countries have similar laws and will want a cut of the income earned.
Giving ebay your social security number and valid ID and a bank account is perfectly sell. Your cell phone company has that information, your mortgage company, your car insurance company, your utilty companies, etc. If you rent, the owner of the property has it.
By the way, did you know that Paypal was hacked recently. Better go change that password now.
Finally, you can NOT leave ebay until 180 days have passed since your last sold item has been delivered. So give ebay what they want and you can sell in peace here.

Actually, it was a new thing a few years ago. I opted into Managed Payments in 2018, I think.
