Funds processing

Hello,

I sold an item yesterday successfully and the buyer paid however the funds have been sat on processing and it says the funds will be available today.  I’ve never had this before and I’m not sure if the funds actually will end up being available today, has anyone else had a similar problem, something to do with the new payout schedule stuff perhaps?

Re: Funds processing

So when I clicked on the item I sold it said funds were processing, ie for the money to be available in my balance for withdrawal

Re: Funds processing

Assuming you are a new or infrequent seller.  Here are payment holds in a nutshell:

Re: Funds processing

Thanks for replying, I’m not new but let’s say infrequent, I’ve sold quite a few items in the last week and got payout right away but it’s my first time I’ve sold an item since the 16th with the new payout system so thought it was maybe something to do with that.

Ill have a look at that article though thanks!

Re: Funds processing

Yes, the holds can be inconsistent for infrequent sellers as we have heard from others sellers posting here.

Everything is bot driven and certainly at times, total purchase price of an item can trigger holds.

Re: Funds processing

I'm not clear from the post if this is a hold situation or just how long payment processing takes. Back in the paypal era you could withdraw your funds the same day from paypal, but ebay waits until the processing is complete. Not an issue for me but just how things seem to be.

Re: Funds processing

"Funds Processing" 14 hours after buyer paid.

Funds stuck in processing for that long just happened to me for the first time. I've seen funds in processing for a few minutes after a sale, but never for hours.

I'm reluctant to ship until funds have cleared. I already bought the shipping label and I'm ~20 bucks in the hole because funds have not cleared.

I'm not worried about funds not being available, just worried there could be a problem with the buyers payment - that it might not go through-ever... The buyer has some positive feedback as a buyer, but not a lot.

Re: Funds processing

FWIW, here's what eBay "says" about it:

Transaction status

The status of each transaction helps you keep track of your sales activity.

Here's an explanation of each transaction status:

  • Available funds: The amount you will be paid in your next payout. Generally, funds that appear Available are the total of all completed transactions, excluding applicable fees and other selling costs, and any transactions on hold
    • Your Available funds may change if we process any additional orders or refunds before your next payout
  • Processing: Your buyer has paid, and the funds are still processing. As long as the order is confirmed, you can send the item
  • On hold: The funds on an order are restricted, for example, the order has an open claim against it. You'll see a reason for the hold and an estimated release date, where possible
    • We'll also provide guidance on how to resolve any outstanding issues with a payment to help you get the funds released. You can find more information about why funds may be placed on hold in our payments on hold article
  • Completed: The payment has been processed
  • Open: Funds are in dispute, and may be placed On hold
  • Released: Funds that were on hold have now been released. These funds will now show in Available funds rather than On hold funds
