What is the point of selling on eBay if they are going to sit on your money for 30 days? I don't sell often and it is becoming less attractive. They take forever to pay. Ebay only makes sense if you sell constantly otherwise it really sucks.

Unfortunately, the occasional seller gets caught up in the security designed to stop fraudulent sellers.

Yes, if you only sell occasionally then eBay doesn't know if you stopped selling and someone hijacked your account. Payments are usually released in 14 days but can be held for 30 days.
The best practice is to ship it asap and upload tracking to show you shipped. Get signature delivery if the cost they paid is $750 and above.

It could also be said...
"what's the point of buying a $2000 item when a seller can just scam me out of my money (yes, I have the 30 Day MBG, but I have to wait until 1 day past the latest estimated delivery date, which could be 2 or 3 weeks from purchase date, before I can file an INR, then have to wait for that to respond and then get my money so they are holding my money for weeks)
That's why.
