EBAY OVERCHARGES FEES ON SALES TAX

Hello,

I have sold one item:

selling price: $19.98

Shipping charge: $12.98

Subtotal: $209.96

+ Sales taxes on buyer: $18.5

= Grand Total $228.46

I dont know why EBAY takes away $28.97 fee???

It should be only 12.55% on $196.98 selling price + $0.30 fixed order fee = $25.02

However, Ebay takes 12.55% on grand total $228.46 + $0.30 fixed order fee = $28.97???

Why do Ebay takes fee 12.55% on even $18.5 sales taxes that they buyer pay?

Why do I have to pay extra 12.55% on $18.5 sales taxes = $2.32 on the sales taxes?

This is so unreasonable and illegal that Ebay takes fees on the sales taxes of the transaction. This is overcharge to the sellers. I'm feeling very angry on this fee that Ebay takes from my transaction.

You simply need a better understanding of how MP works.  Ebay hired Adyen to process the money.  Ebay manages the information on the site and the sellers.  Ebay doesn't have the money to do as you suggest they are.  Which they have repeatedly stated, but clearly you must have missed it.

either a typo or you are really bad at math. problem is we are at the mercy. a seller like myself who makes a living at this and needs my $12,000 a month or more to be happy aBay is the only place i can do that. they have a monopoly. its the sad truth. they can do what ever the hell they want to us. to a point of course. i do really like not having to worry about paying any fees any more. its made my life less stressful. true, they can screw me over more if they choose. i just found out they are actually charging their percentage fee on the sales tax also. i do believe this is illegal. there is a code of conduct they are violating. but if nobody does anything about it, they will continue to do it. this is the world we live in now. all for one and one for none. ammo up and buy all the guns. this world is going to get real scarry real soon...

Ebay does NOT have a monopoly.  There are a few other sites of similar size that are their competition.  Which means that Ebay is NOT a monopoly nor do they have one.

If you just found out they are charging the FVF on the sales tax, then you haven't visited the policy pages for Seller Fees.  It is clearly stated there for sellers in MP.  It is the seller's responsibility to know the rules.  Ebay neither hid it or made the information otherwise unavailable to you.  You simply didn't update yourself when you went into MP.  It is not illegal.  Certainly many sellers don't like it, I know I don't, but it isn't illegal.

If there is some code or law they are violating, PLEASE post a link to it so we may all read through it.

But it is unfair to hold Ebay responsible if you did not do your homework before you entered into MP or at least shortly thereafter.  Something as important as a program that handles your money deserves you knowing as much as possible about it.

For what exactly @tcarlson01 .    @beanieflower posted SEVERAL months ago as this is a OLD thread.

Were you this upset by this when PayPal charged their fees on sales tax too?  Or is it just because Ebay is doing it?
