Cannot use Gift Card(s) "Please check your payment details or use a different payment method"

I have cleared cookies, tried different browsers, different desktop computers, and the mobile app.. and I've also tried buying the same item from different sellers. 

Same red-banner message each time:  "Please check your payment details or use a different payment method".

Gift card shows correct balance(s). And FWIW no problems using my regular credit card on eBay yesterday. 

EBay Customer Service is USELESS. It would be helpful if they actually staffed the call center with people trained in IT and not just someone reading off a troubleshooting script anyone with half a brain could figure out on their own.

This is extremely frustrating. Any advice is welcome.

Some items cannot be purchased with eBay gift cards. Read the Terms and Conditions for gift cards.

In addition to the above, the gift cards can only be used in the US, no off shore purchases.

If its a Vanilla gift card, Ebay does not accept them.

I have the same issue even though my situation meets the terms and conditions. The problem is the message is useful because we have no idea what is the actual problem. Have contact Support who also have no idea. They told me to wait 24-48 hours for the gift card to activate. After 24 hours, still doesn't work. 
Incidentally, the last 2 times I used the gift cards
1. contacted support. They did something. I tried again and it went through.
2. contacted support. Said they will escalate. I tried on mobile app and it went through.
3. this time, contacted support. They said wait 24 - 48 hours. Still doesn't work.

I have used Aussie eBay gift cards before on ebay.com.au. But on current 3rd time, can't be processed on website site and mobile app. Still no fix

I just got the gift card to work using Edge browser. Seems like Chrome glitches something. Didn't clear Chrome cache though. Try another browser!

I had the same issue, turns out my problem was I used the automatic google sign in which glitched my orders. If you used the Sign in with Apple or Google, try signing in normally by email or username and try again.

I have the same problem with an Ebay gift card, I used it a while ago and it worked, now when I try to pay, an error appears and I should try another payment method.
