Re: SHIPPING TIRES

►when he realizes that he has a shipping price of like $100 for all 4 of those tires.

See my previous post - it's a lot worse than $100 for the 4. Best case using deeply discounted eBay FedEx shipping to an auction winner in his town is a bit over $130 if my assumptions on weight and size are correct (size estimate based on decoding the tire specs, weight based on a bit of googling)

Re: SHIPPING TIRES

The listing calculator?

That is for ONE tire. OP is going to have to ship the other 3 on his dime!

Exactly!! That is what I was saying above that he will get a rude awakening when he realizes he has to ship all 4 for that price.

Not $100.50 each but $100.50 for all 4

Re: SHIPPING TIRES

Yeah. Don't know why I misread your post that way.

I don't see anyway out except to cancel it now, and eat the FVF unless I can't see the forest for the trees.

Re: SHIPPING TIRES

Once there is an eBay seller who sold 18 bar stools with free shipping to a bar owner on Ebay.

The bar owner said the stools do not fit and file INAD,Ebay gave him a shipping label-USPS  .just one label.

He made multiple copies of the same label and slapped it on several boxes ,USPS postman returned all as you cant use the same label for multiple shipments.

Then there is a guy who bought 4 car tires from Indonesia and filed INAD and was asked by Paypal to return them all to Indonesia on his dime, then there is a guy who bought a mountaineer bike from Russia and ask to return it on his dime to Russia.

Paypal would ask the buyer to pay return shipping but Ebay would ask seller to pick up return shipping within 30 days.

I hope it goes well for  OP,good luck

You can't ASK for cash anywhere on Ebay. An electronic payment method is required in all listings. Local delivery will eliminate 98% of potential buyers.

Re: SHIPPING TIRES

Good point.

"Your listing photo shows 17/64" tread depth with that $100 bill, but I measured 33/128" tread depth with a stick I found on the ground. Refund me now you fraud."

"I thought they were whitewalls"

"Those tires don't fit my Honda Civic. The listing title said 4 Tires and you should have known I was searching for Honda tires. I've been scammed"

"You overcharged me for shipping. Ripoff"

and so on...............

Re: SHIPPING TIRES

I thought if local delivery,it can be either electronic payment or cash .
question-if tires are listed under Ebay/auto ,could he ask for cash,as this category is different from the others,no vehicle dealer will accept cc or paypal payments, unless it is a deposit.
Also if listed under auto, would there be a $25 listing fee?
I am quite sure local delivery/pickup,you can ask for cash, someone sold a 44 inches TV set asking cash,he delivered the TV himself, the buyer said I dont have enough cash, can I pay you with Paypal,he said fine.
He went home and found a Paypal INR notice !

Re: SHIPPING TIRES

Has OP consider Craigslist?

Then he can ask for cash, there are plenty of scams on Craigslist, but he can askf or cash and cash only.

Vehicle sales are different from parts sales.

You can accept cash on local pickup but are still required to list an electronic payment method. And if someone uses Paypal after the end of the listing and comes pick it up, what will you do? Cancel and refund or refund and ask for cash? Most buyers would be a little angry and possibly leave a negative if you don't lose the sale completely.  I've sold plenty of local pickup items and have been paid with Paypal more than 75% of the time. Never had an issue.

Re: SHIPPING TIRES

Update:  the listing  now  has 7 bids.  Guess that is a good thing.  The OP seems to  be very quiet on his issue.
