Most every structure on my layout has been made with plastic of some sort.(except for a scratch built wooden fire tower) I now have won a lazer cut kit and was wondering if it will go together like the plastic buildings or what problems will I run into trying to build this wood kit. I take it that lazer cut kits are wood? Thanks for any suggestions. Gene

New pictures are up. Gene, I may not be able to pull off the pulley but I'll do something. Hope you like the roof. I worked on it all day. B-)

Pete, It looks like the barn has a nose!!To tell the truth All I was looking for was a rope or a wire representing a cable hanging down from the beam I think the beam and the "pulley" are great but the pallet and the rope affair holding it up are over the top. Please don't spend a great deal of time on detailing. It will only be frustrating. I'll find some hay type material to stick in the stalls and maybe some bales of hay for in front of the barn and maybe an old dobbin or two! It looks great. I don't know how you can pack it to ship as it looks so delicate. Was the barn as interesting a structure as it looks or was the delicateness a real pain. Let me know what the damage is. gene

Gene, Use bundles of WS field grass, yellow, for the hay bales. I quit per your instructions. I'll send it out tomorrow. Now, it is delicate, especially the individual legs of the posts that you can see. I'll do my best, but if they do break off in shipping, you will have to glue them back on. I'll email you later with the shipping cost when I know it exactally. I just hope you like it really. B-)

Wow Pete. that barn is unreal!!! Actully it is SO REAL!! That weathering job and roof is mind blowing. Brain surgeons would be jealous of your hands in the framing portion of barn. You should be submitting pictures of your structures to RR magazines. Your work is every bit as good and better than some of their features. I think your work should be recognized. dave

I see you bought it. Great. Now with hay bales it won't matter to much that they are HO scale, but if you can, I would cut the height down a bit. Post a picture when you get eveything set up. Don't forget to build the fences.....patience! I'll give you a building hint for those individual fence rails. Actually I'll set up the thing and take a picture for your visual aide later. Stay tuned... B-)

I was just going to take a photo of my last kit I just finished and noticed that I have the front door upside down. :8} What can I use to loosen the glue? I use plastic cement by Testers. Chuck 🙂

Chuck, First, post the picture and let us see if we can tell the door is upside down. Most people will not notice. Second, you might get lucky by applying another coat of cement to the joints which should soften that joint so you can pry the door way a little at a time. I would use liquid cement rather than the cement that comes in the plastic squeeze bottle with the long metal spout. (I'm guessing as to what type of Testors you used.) Or you might have to cut it out of place with your xacto knife, sand the frame edges and door edges and reglue it in the proper orientation. Let's see it before you go to a lot of trouble. B-)

Pete the Barn came just a little while ago. Nothing broken and looks great the pictures don't do it justice! It's down on the layout waiting for the fence and other scenery. It is smaller than I envisioned and I probably will have to pare down the hay bales but that shouldn't be a problem! Again thanks for the help and instruction. I'll post some pictures when I get everything together. That beam is ingenious! Gene
