Most every structure on my layout has been made with plastic of some sort.(except for a scratch built wooden fire tower) I now have won a lazer cut kit and was wondering if it will go together like the plastic buildings or what problems will I run into trying to build this wood kit. I take it that lazer cut kits are wood? Thanks for any suggestions. Gene

Chuck, Sounds like you can just pour WS light hydrocal into those molds to make the item. I never knew that WS sent molds with their kits. This must be somethng new. How to make a mold: Mix the lightweight hydrocal per the package directions. Lightly spray the inside of the mold with PAM, this is a good mold release agent. Pour the hydrocal into the mold. Let it set per package instructed time. When set, you can flex the mold to break the bond, not the mold or the piece, and pop out the piece. Give it 24 hours to really dry. Then you can paint or stain it and use it. Hope this helps. B-)

Punk. The set is the Woodland Scenics Town and Factory set N Scale. 13 different kits. Also comes with a large bag of metal parts which I will probably be asking a lot of questions about those when I finish all the kits. Now working on my 5th kit. Thanks Pete for the help. Chuck 🙂

Chuck I just looked in my T+F box and there is a thin sheet of vacu-formed plastic (white) that has awnings and things on it. While it could be used as a mold, it is made to cut out the pieces and then glue them to the buildings. If you can take a photo of it and post it, or I will of mine when I get a minute, I'll be able to see if they are the same. Punk

Punk, Chuck said the details were on the inside of these molds. Strange. However, what you have said makes more sense. I have never known WS to provide actual molds. Chuck, Re think the positive/negative way you are looking at the forms. The details that you said are on the inside might just be intentional, especially if the pieces you are looking at are awnings. Being vacuum formed it would make sense that there is more detail on the inside as the plastic is sucked down over the pattern. Punk

I think I am making a mountain out of a mole hill. I think I might of jump the gun on this one. Your probably right, they are cut outs and not molds. Will post photo in my kits album. Chuck 🙂

Chuck Pic Went through this time. I would say from looking at them they are cutouts. Jack

Chuck, Definitely cut outs. Not mold forms at all. Cut them carefully, paint them and glue them to the buildings. B-)

Dave, I have two of those bridges, still in the box. They have been in a trunk since 1975 or so. Let's see how much it goes for. CJ]:)

You can see it in picture #13 in the Gene's new layout photo album. Much has changed in the picture but the bridge is still the same. Gene
