You'll never guess what I found tonight while going through the train closet. I found a wood, yes wood, barn kit. I even started it. Here we go again. I am following the directions to the tee. I glued the pieces together, then put sanding sealer on them after the glue dried. Before I could do the reverse side they started curling up on me. I quickly did the other side and they straighened right up. Whew! Now it is drying. I have to sand it with fine steel wool tomorrow. Next are those terribly skinny boards that I have to trim to exact measurements. I have it sandwiched under something right now so it stays straight.
Well, at least I am trying another wood kit. By the way, it is a Gloor Craft Models, Craftsman Series, #207 Country Barn. It really doesn't look that hard but I couldn't find a picture of a finished one so I will have to go on instinct. I don't like the construction paper roofing material that came with it so I will need ideas for that. Oh, do I paint the skinny stuff before putting it on? It is trim mostly. I will paint the barn before adding the trim as that is what the directions tell me to do. Do I have to keep the area that the trim will be glued to void of paint? (yes, I am using wood glue)
I also started another house for the layout while I was waiting for the glue to dry. At least that will be easy!
Thanks for listening!
