Re: Have you seen this #2

Saw on atlas site that they are going to make the Dash8-40CW. Nice looking loco on thier site. Awful tempted to pre-order one at LHS. Spring 09 release date I think. WOuldn't mind getting undec version and painting it a conrail blue shade lettered for LMS. I had a Bachmann Spectrum but sold it as I got it for 20 USD brand new and therefore wasn't worth putting a decoder in and having to fiddle with converting the rapido couplers in the trucks. It was still a nice looking loco but glad I parted it for locos with body mount couplers, etc

Re: Have you seen this #2

Dave Don't you know, M/T does a conversion for the Bachmann Dash 8 engines, gives you body mount, I know modelers who renumbered Kato Dash 9s to Dash 8 numbers and unless you are a real rivet counter you can't tell, I used to have a Santa Fe dash 8 by Bachmann and it used to give me headaches, something to do with the high pitched squeel when it was running fast,I actually thought the Atlas engine was already available, I'm sure I've seen it advertised in Model Railroader, then again maybe not. ]:)

Re: Have you seen this #2

It still came down to the decoder part. One article I found online involved machining the side of the frame to make room for decoder. Not that I dont have the skills to do that, it's just labour and decoder cost more than the loco was worth. I got the loco for 20 bucks NIB plus shipping. I sold it a few years ago for more than what I paid for it.

Re: Have you seen this #2

I posted some new photos in the FILE section of yahoo groups. If someone is bored enough to copy them and resize them to put into ebay go for it. Otherwise there up for viewing in yahoo.

Dave Have you seen the new IM release CN hoppers? eddythejack has them listed, they look pretty good but maybe a little new for me, part of the CN logo is a .com address, red and black like the CANADA cars, just thought you might like to know. ]:)

Re: Have you seen this #2

Nice looking. However I like the PS2 covered hoppers with the CN.COM address as they are the ones I see here. I just found on a website, a I/M IMC Global cyl hopper. It is a grain hopper I see from tie to time here and was wanting to paint/decal one up with a spare hopper but M/S doesn't make the particular decals (with logo) so I think I will order it. I should go out to LHS an see what I could bring home from layaway. I think there are still I/M I preordered that may not be out til this Jan. (never wrote down what I ordered, just sent him an email while I was in middle east) SO sometimes it is a surprise when he tells me my order came in. I forgot all about an oil distribritor kit from Kibri until LHS dug it out for me.

Re: Have you seen this #2

Have a look at this item. In this day and age I wonder where this fellow thinks people are going to come up with $15,000.00 USD, or $18,500.00 Cdn. I guess a Hobby shop might want to bid on it. His approx price per car works out to be about $11.00 USD or $13.00 Cdn per unit. A little rich for me. VERY LARGE MTL LOT / COLLECTION....1350 CARS Location: USAItem: 200288508993 Jack I'd hate to think of the shiping cost....... B-) -- Edited by ginzokid at 12/17/2008 10:15 AM PST

Maybe it's like a hobby store in a box. Add money and out pops a hobby store! Charles

Re: Have you seen this #2

I'll never understand bidders on ebay. The link below will take you to an auction of mine. The item as stated is available from Micro-Mark, current list is $19.95, but they are on sale for $12.95. I paid $10.95 when I bought them. Now I said they were from Micro-Mark and the package even shows it. Wouldn't you as a bidder go to Micro-Mark to see what the retail price really is before you bid almost twice that amount? Not that I'm complaining, but I have to shake my head sometimes. And with two guys bidding aganst each other, who knows what the final amount will be. :-D http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=140289554422&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=004
