Re: Have you seen this #2

Have a look at this from our ex friend Neville. I don't think I need one bad enough to pay this price and his shipping to me is 28.45, WOW!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/Kadee-Micro-Trains-46020-BN-Gondola-565698-Rare-2nd-Run_W0QQitemZ350087331875QQi... This would have to be put in a glass display case and hire an armed guard I would think. Jack

Oh Please!!!!! Anyone who would pay that amount for a silly little N scale car must have their head in their nether region. Where does he get these prices? ?:|

Re: Have you seen this #2

I saw that listed by him about two years ago for $900 and then it was gone, Maybe he sold one already and KNOWS some sucker will pay anything to get what they want, I'm sure I paid about $19 for one, maybe it's not the RARE issue. ]:)

I hope you are kidding about the $700. I felt bad when I paid $55 for the G@D commemorative car. B-)

Re: Have you seen this #2

hell yea. Even if I won several million on 649 I wouldn't be buying stuff like that. If I had that kind of allowne where I could blow 900 bucks on a trainthingy it would be one of those Overland models. That I could see being worth it.

Re: Have you seen this #2

Pete mentioned buying something pricey. Anyone else will admit to it as well? -I had on layaway at LHS the new release (year or so ago) the Kato TTX intermodal 3 pack with containers. think it was like 92 bucks. (shoulda bought from USA on that one) Most expensive loco was a DCC equipped loco from Tony's Trains exchange think it was $90. Mind you anything else I bought plus get a decoder for it ended up being close I'm sure. Wait, the MTL canada series loco and B unit each brought the $100 point. (and the whole set is packed away)

Re: Have you seen this #2

My Canadian set will be run. I don't buy stuff to sit in storage. You never really get the big bonus you hope for unless you sit on it for 100 years. These books that you can buy, they are not free for a reason, as a collector's guide are so rigged that it is foolish. They are published by the guys that have the stuff to sell! Neville thinks these guides are the Bible. All I know is that the guy that buys a high priced item is just hoping to resell it higher. Remember that very rare wood coaling tower kit I bought for $250? You have all seen the pictures of it. I built it and it is on the layout in use. A 60 year old kit. I actually bid $500 on it, but got lucky and didn't have to pay my max bid. True confessions...... B-) PS: My On30 engines average $200 each. -- Edited by ginzokid at 08/23/2008 9:08 AM PDT

Re: Have you seen this #2

I am still in the cheap mode, I guess the most I paid so far was $183 for three Bachmann WM 2-8-0s in one purchase. Charles

Re: Have you seen this #2

By the time you work out all the bits and pieces I pay to be able to build one of the custom engines, I often have paid around $150 to $200 for an engine, I think the most in one hit for a single N scale was US $101 for a C30-7, I have paid well over $200 for diecast cars though. ]:)

Re: Have you seen this #2

I thought the Cdn series was neat and figured I wanted one set anyways whether I was gonna run it or not. SOmehting that is unique somewhat that perhaps a son or grandschild could be presented with...you know what I mean? Or if opportunity presented itself to sell then I would. I did speculate and buy a 2nd BC car for the heck of it as those ones don't seem like they're listed often. Perhaps there is a fol out there that started to collect the cars after the BC one. Besides, it's not like I sunk two grand into the canada cars. They went into layaway at LHS so it wasn't an all out purchase at once.

Re: Have you seen this #2

A point of information for you all. Turner Model Works has purchased and is now producing the old Muir Model kits. These were great way back when and I imagine they will be again. There are some very interesting kits in the series. Take a look at www.turnermodelworks.com for what is available and also do an ebay search for Muir in N scale and you will see quite a few for sale right now. I used to love these kits and may purchase a few for myself again. B-)

Re: Have you seen this #2

People will sell and buy anything. The County of Rennsalear (spelling) near Troy,NY misprinted 300 absentee ballots. They say "Barack Osama". Here's one enterprising fellow selling copies, not the original, of the ballot. They have been replaced by the way with correctly spelled ballots. http://cgi.ebay.com/Barack-OSAMA-NY-Absentee-ballot-Dual-Sided-not-OBAMA_W0QQitemZ220293288637QQcmdZ... I'd pay for an original, but a photo copy? And he is getting bids! B-)
