Greetings from Winnipeg

hey there folks. Good to see that this group hasn't disbanded. I finally have internet. I am more or less moved in our house and went to work long enuf to clear in and take leave. Holy crap home ownership and TLC is a lotta work. I havn't stopped since Aug 4. Cripes!! it's been quite a journey to get to this point. I was succesful in taking all my hard alcohol into USA and back into Canada. :D Spent 7 days in the states on route to here. Went thru at Calais,ME, thru NH, Mass, Conneticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana,Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota. Highlights or lack of in somecases were, Shopping/just driving around in Kittery Maine. Couple of hours seeing part of Salem, Mass. Stopped long enuf to see the Pocono speedway on a friday evening as things were building up for sundays nascar race. (didn't have time to stay extra days to see race) Bought a few goodies from venders for my Man-Room. Didn't quite get to see Orange County Choppers as I never thought to get their complete address as Rock Tavern was off the interstate and a dot on the map. Well, stupid of me to be so naive. I was kinda sour for my stupidity as this was a once in a lifetime that I would probably be passing thru that way, so we had to keep on trucking. Got to see the Indy speedway woohoo!!. Got more stuff for recroom. Saw 'House on the Rock' in Wisconsin. Spent 11 hours at Mall of America. Spent more money there. Lastly got a OCC shop stool at a autoparts place in Fargo. After a week in hotels, get here on Jul 29 and find out my furniture went into storage and wouldn't get it til the 4th Aug. So a week of hotels in winnipeg. Barely unpacked and didn't like the panelling on the walls in recroom so I studded over it and sheetrocked it. Plus partitioned off a closet behind the bar. And painted the walls and floor in model/train room. pics uploaded someday when I have the time. Plus we did a lot of painting while we had the days to do it before movers came. Got railroad back on its legs. Sections not connected yet as I had to figure out how to lay it out in the room allocated. I have to abandon a tunnel and spur on the back of it to utilize the space without having duck unders. ANd I saw LOTS of trains here in the city. Thats how my summer has been since I left Nova Scotia. Whew.. Now for a lot of catching up in the threads. Good to be home (in the group) Dave

I am proud to announce my car has arrived !!! 😄 😄 😄 :D 😄 😄 😄 :D It sowed up a bit earlier today than when they said it would. I got back from the base figuring it wouldn't be at the house yet but misses said I just missed him and he wouldn't wait so she signed the acceptance for it. The carhauler guy was nice and walked around examining it for damage too. Now for the fun for a safety. I better pass for less than $200. grrrr. Glad to hear that your car finally surfaced and unharmed. When I was "coming out" from a 2 year posting in Fort Churchill, Manitoba in 1963, I shipped my car by CNR (the only line in and out) to be picked up at The Pas. Figured that the drive out from there would be interesting. Unfortunately, I couldn't find my sox in the morning in my berth, so I had to trudge through the snow in only shoes. At least my car was there as promised. Bud.
