What's new in 5.27.0

We have released the new version 5.27.0. You should see it showing up for upgrade over the next 24 hours. Here are some issues reported via the forums that should be working better this release.

• Fixed an issue with looking at ended items on iPad
• Time remaining could show up incorrect in active selling list

Other enhancements:

• Simplified account recovery
• Accessibility improvements
• Sign in with your Google account
• Sign in with your Facebook account
• Image search improvements
• New way of filtering when browsing
• Easily purchase parts for your car with the garage on the homescreen

 We are still investigating reports that the app may crash when on iOS 11. If you upgrade to iOS 12 the app should not crash.

Hi, the new layout of seller items in the app looks nice to view but has considerably slowed down my ability to scroll through my active items.  I can view about 10-15  items and then it must load to the next page.  I takes forever to load and sometimes locks up my phone, most likely because of the new format and larger photos.  Now I don't even want to check my active items on my phone at all.  It takes too long and used too much battery!

I recently updated the eBay app to current version 5.27.0. I haven’t been able to view recently sent messages, so I do not know if the eBay buyers have received the eBay messages I have sent them in the last two days as these are not showing and the buyers have not replied.

I am an eBay seller and before all these updates, when I clicked on list an item my screen would look like the first image. This format was very organized and easy to use. Now when when I click on list an item, my screen looks like the second image. This format is extremely difficult to use and unorganized. Is there any way to get back the original format?

Horrible app design, absolutely terrible. I pay a monthly ebay store subscription and in no way does this new app layout help out in any way. It has made it absolutely impossible for me to list the way “I” want to. I’m not interested in how it is so limited and it is forcing me to list in a way eBay’s thinks is best. Again I don’t pay a monthly subscription fee to list as an amateur or do I need eBay’s suggestive selling ways. Here’s a thought? Maybe instead have a pro or store subscribers version of the app and then have an amateur version of the app.

List of issues:

•Don’t need or want to be forced to apply a best offer to my listings. Even after I turn it off (which by the way is hidden within the app) it still manages to turn it back on as I’m editing the listing.

•only allows one type of international shipping option. Example: if I have first class international selected I can’t add a priority option as well.

•No ability to select “my choice” of listing duration for my buy it now listings. Again I don’t need eBay to force me into listening all my buy it now listings as GTC/good till canceled. Again I don’t pay a monthly subscription fee to be forced into a limited, basically one type of listing offer when using the app.

•I can’t add my items/listings to “my store” category.

•the whole App has a big, bulky, chunky, font design...ugh... 😞 this app is so terrible, so very disappointing. When I look at my active items I can Literally only see 2 items at a time....I’ve got close to 300 listings and this makes it so very Difficult to monitor/check my listings....ugh....this is the most generic app ever, I mean really? Come on eBay. Not to mention all the in app help/assistance that is so unnecessary for someone who lists items all the time. Really? I need advice on how to take a picture? Come on, seriously, it’s like the app has bicycle training wheels on it. For gods sake I know how to ride a bike, just let me ride it.

In summary PLEASE FIX THIS APP. I’m begging you. The person and/or persons who design this app should not only be fired but should also be banned from ever allowing them to design any app ever again...ugh..

Seems Devin Wenig, eBay’s New President & CEO is responsible for redesigning eBay’s mobile experiences. I do hope he is reading the pages and pages of glitches and frustrations for the new app. He needs to know how really awful this new app is!

Just updated to 5.27.0 today.   Running iOS 12.1 on my ipad.  After updating, I listed an item with 12 pics - viewed listing (on my ipad) immediately and saw a big problem / issue / major glitch.  The pics are not correct - what the app is showing is some of the pics and then duplicates of those pics.  This appears to be app related as when I checked the listing in Safari on ipad, all 12 pics showed up fine.  Obviously this is a big concern as buyers viewing the listing are not seeing important visual details and also kind of makes me look like an idiot seller, throwing a bunch of duplicate pics in my listings, which in turn, could very well effect the sale and the price realized at auction end.  It definitely undermines my high attention to detail along with my time and effort in creating an effective listing.  Please provide details of a back door fix and when this issue will be corrected.   Thank you.

UPDATE:  I was able to fix the photo issue ... but, to do this I had to edit the listing from the internet ebay dot com site from ipad using Safari browser and manually replacing each photo one at a time so that they would appear in the order I wanted them to be in.  It has to be done like this because even though it says that when you touch on a photo that it can then be dragged to change the order, when working on ipad, dot com in Safari, it does not work, and actually has not worked for a long time, if ever.  Never considered it a major problem as 99.9 percent of my listing are done in the app, so the - fix (?) - for the app photo problem is just a temporary way of stopping the bleeding - the glitch in the app update needs to be fixed otherwise the app is useless for sellers to list anything - might as well use the ebay website ... just make sure when uploading photos they are in the order you want them in or upload each one separately in reverse order (photo 12 to main listing photo 1).  Yup - pain in the butt.  Have survived many app updates, but this is the first update that has made the app unusable for listing, at least for me.  I think it is safe to say that ebay just went from having a usable app to list to not having any app at all.

UPDATE 2:  In addition, the good news (?) of not having an app to list in ... or more specifically this updated version, is not having to deal with all the new ebay - suggestions (?) - on how to list my items and lack of control and options for adding specifics and features on an item from the app.  This is something that has been discussed for years with regard to what would be helpful to sellers when listing from the app, but it does not appear that anyone is listening or that app updates are done to provide a better platform, at least with the seller as the user.  I understand that ebay wants more buyers and to make it easy for buyers to find what they want ... and maybe even what they did not know they wanted but must get.  As a seller, I want that too - I want buyers to find my listings and purchase.  But, what I do not understand (and I have over 25 years of corporate marketing experience), is making changes to the app platform for sellers that makes listing more difficult and less effective.  I have to agree with the claynator2 post ... take the training wheels off this update in addition to fixing glitches!  Let the sellers list so buyers buy - it really is that simple and the more ebay attempts to control the listing process by implementing an overly structured and limiting app for sellers to create listing, the less sellers list, the less buyers buy and the less money ebay makes.  I am not familiar with any company still in business whose goal was to make less money.  Finally, I am not an ebay hater, I love selling on ebay!  Sometimes (like now), it just feels like I am pounding my head against a brick wall when decisions are made that do not make sense financially for sellers, buyers or ebay.  Ugh.

Thanks for posting and sorry you are running into some issues with the photo uploading. Can you let us know if this is happenig for all items listed with the app on your iPad or was it a one time thing? Please let us know as we would like to get to the bottom of this.

With the photo dragging are you able to drag them properly in the app? The issue is when using safari on your ipad?

Thank you for getting on this to solve it and your communication regarding it really helps in knowing that our posts are being read and taken seriously.  Here is what I can tell you at this point.  I have only listed the 1 item since updating the app, and this 1 is the only listing that the photos had duplication issues - my other current listings are all pre-update and those are fine.  So, at this point I cannot tell if it was a one time thing or not until I list something else.  Typically I do not list on Tuesdays, but I can find something and do a quick list on it, then follow up with you.  The photo dragging issue - It has always been a problem in Safari on my ipad - problem being not able to drag photos to different order, can select the photo and it says to drag the photo to move it, but when touched and dragged without lifting finger off screen they do not move.   Prior to the update I have never had an issue dragging, moving photos in the app.  I know that I did drag and move some of the photos in the listing I did with the updated app and that the app did not respond any differently when doing it than pre-update - I was able to touch, drag and move the photos just the same.  As this was my only reference, I went into and revised 1 of my pre-update listings, changed the position of just 1 of the photos, saved the revision and checked it, making sure I refreshed the listing page and noticed an issue right away when looking at the main listing page (in the app) - the photo that I moved - initially - had duplicated, basically replacing the photo in the position it was moved to and that photo was gone completely.  This was initially as said above, however, as I was this and went back to the app to double check that I was giving you the correct details, I now see that it no longer has the duplicate and that the photo move change that was done is also showing correctly - which is different than the 1st post-update listing in which I had tried several different times to fix the photo issue yesterday from within the app, including, reordering, moving and clearing and uploading new - nothing seemed to help.  Also, It may help to know that when I was doing all this yesterday, the photos I was seeing in the actual creating a listing part of the app, were all showing up fine, they could be dragged, moved, reordered ... it was not until I went to preview listing just before putting it on live that the photos in the preview were wonky - duplicates, others missing.  At that point I did not go live right away and instead went back into creating, cleared and re-uploaded photos.  Again in preview they were messed up but at that point I thought maybe it was a preview issue and that when it went live that it would resolve, so I went live ... but photos were still messed up just like preview.  After that, I did try to fix it within the app as I said above without success.  This morning I went to Safari on ipad to revise the listing to see if that made any difference - this is when I discovered that if I took 1 of the missing photo out (missing on the live listing, but not missing and very much there in the uploaded photos when revising - sorry, that is kind of confusing),  re-uploaded the photo, updated the listing (all still within Safari), that the photo now appeared as it should in live listing.  But, unable to drag and move photos through Safari, to successfully get all the photos into the live listing correctly, I kept the main listing photo in place, starting with the 2nd photo, I deleted and then re-uploaded each of the 11 photos individually so they were uploaded to the order I needed them in as dragging and moving was not an option.  Once this was done and listing revised, photos all showed correctly in live listing.  I will give the app a try again, do a quick list of something and follow up afterward.  Again, I appreciate your work in getting this resolved and as I re-read this long, run on sentence of mine, hopefully you do not regret opening communication about it ... 😉

Quick follow up on 2nd new listing in updated app.  Photo issue appears to be resolved - all photos uploaded, some were dragged to reorder and both pre-viewing listing and viewing after live, photos were as they should be.

A couple more things ...

When I listed this 2nd one, I wanted a BIN for 7 days.  App defaults to auction, so changed it to BIN, had to toggle OFF Best Offer **Why is default ON for this now, and why is there now a default price set by ebay?  No, just no.  This is going to upset a lot of sellers who, until they figure it out or make it a new habit when listing, are going to  1. Pay extra, unintended fees and / or  2. Have a buyer make an offer for an amount that ebay automatically accepts - and an amount that the buyer was not okay with.  

Also, there seems to be - another glitch - NO SET DURATION ON BIN LISTINGS - as I said, I intended to list this BIN 7 days.  After changing auction to BIN, removing BO option and when all was said and done, listing goes live, I view it and it says that it is BIN Good ‘Til Cancelled ... What???  I thought I must have missed selecting duration when I did it and was also a little **bleep** that apparently the new default for BIN is GTC?  So I started another new listing, just to see ... and found out I did NOT miss setting duration -  **There is NOTHING in the BIN to select a duration!  In auction there is ... but when BIN is selected, duration is not there.  And, of course, now that it is listed, I cannot revise the duration - so I guess I am stuck, watching this listing crawl at a snails pace with views and do not even what to know what page the listing is on when searched with similar items of less duration.  This one is pretty big - huge in fact IMHO.  I cannot list anything BIN using this updated app if I cannot set a duration.  Can I just have the old version back please?
