Ebay App error "something went wrong."

Hello,

the Ebay App does not work anymore.
For about 2 weeks I get the following error: "Something went wrong."
The app is not usable. I cannot search for items to buy.
The problem only occurs with the app, not with the browser. Uninstalling and reinstaling the app from the Google playstore doesn't solve the error.

Here are some technical information about my phone:
OnePlus 9 Pro 256 GB
Android 13

Hi @archproxer . I looked up your phone and it was launched with Android 11 and a guarantee of 3 version updates which means it will not be supported past Android 14.

You said you're using Android 13, but the current version of Android is 14. Check to see if you can update your operating system. From what I read, the OnePlus 9 Pro became eligible for Android 14 at the end of 2023.

If you can update to Android 14 do that - then delete the eBay app, turn off your phone, reboot and re-download the eBay app.

I dont want to upgrade to android 14!

Since when do you need the most recent operating system? The ebay app worked just fine until the last update 6.172.0.2 (Aug 15). And in the official app specs in the Google Playstore ebay states that the app requieres android 10 or newer (and not android 14)! And of course this makes sense because no tech company shall force its users to buy a phone that supports only the latest android version. So my guess is: the developers of ebay app did a mistake which leads to a bug in the last update. Because 2 weeks ago just befor the update everything worked just fine.

The ebay app worked just fine until the last update 6.172.0.2 (Aug 15).

It might be worth trying to uninstall the eBay app, restarting your phone and then installing the app again. If the problem is related to an update not installing cleanly, that may help.

I have android 14 so it has nothing to do with needing android 14 as my ebay app is still broken too, uninstalling the app and reinstalling does not do anything. Anyone found a solution?

What device are you using?

Some Samsung S23 or S24 users, for instance, seem to be having problems with the latest few versions of the eBay app getting "technical errors" on sign-in, and seem to do better installing an older version such as 6.161.0.1.

same issue here, hasn't worked for weeks, i have done all the usual stuff, uninstalled app, deleted data and cache, restarted phone.  Ebayapp on OnePLus 12 DOES NOT WORK.

There have been some issues with oneplus phones @jake-5538 and @bettingguru . Other users are reporting downloading an older version of the app gets them past the problems.

I can also confirm that I am getting this error on my OnePlus 7T while using recent versions of the eBay app while using the July 4 version of the app works fine.

However it's notable that I'm running a custom ROM: LineageOS 21 (based on Android 14). So it seems less to do with OnePlus's own OxygenOS and more to do with the hardware or firmware. I can't imagine eBay needed to do anything so low-level as to be interfacing with those, so this is extremely odd.

Please sort this out eBay. It's been months!

My s23 ultra suck on a lot of financial apps now not just ebay.   Fidelity finger print login doesn't work any more.  Facebvok market place.   Cane's and chick fil a app are wonky too.  My banking app Navigation is also weird.    Samsun fed up with the latest updates and no one is fixing it.
