Instructions here: How to update your eBay app
- Requires Android 10 or better
- Requires iOS 17 or better, but there are directions for iOS 16 users to download an older version of the app
If you cannot update to a compatible OS then you'll have to access eBay from a web browser on your device and you'll probably want to delete the app so links open in your browser instead of the app.

Unfortunately no @liroy2425 . Android 9 is no longer supported. You need Android 10 or later.
But as mentioned, you can delete the eBay app and use the eBay website from your phone's browser until you decide to update your phone.

Stroke of genius by eBay, the extra revenue generated by people updating their phone will be huge!

What genius came up with this idea! Especially without warning!
Running on Android 9 and not about to upgrade but at least can access via browser.

Deleted eBay used proffered link to download older version didn’t work for me. Now I have no eBay😭

Doesn’t work as after downloading the older version, the same update request comes up avd when you click on ‘exit’ it just closes the app.
You would think eBay would have something that easily works for everyone, obviously not.

Unfortunately this doesn’t work
Having downloaded the older version immediately you try to open it a message saying you need to upgrade repeatedly appears and the only option ls to exit

That worked in October 2024 when that was posted, but no longer works now as a more recent operating system is now a requirement as of February 2025.
According to a post on the UK community boards, the latest version of the eBay app requires Android 10 or later, or iOS 17 or later.
There is another version of the app available for iOS 16 users; see here:
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Mobile-Apps/How-to-update-your-eBay-app/m-p/34920437#M50572
A possible workaround for iOS 15 users is suggested here:

If you cannot upgrade your operating system or find an older version of the app that works with your current operating system, you should still be able to use a browser to go to ebay.co.uk instead.
If eBay browser links are opening in the Android version of the app automatically, you can disable that by going to your device Settings: Apps: eBay: Open by default: Opens supported links and choosing "Don't open in the app". iOS users can tap and hold an eBay browser link and choose "Don't open in the app".

Hi Devon
This doesn't work. I am IOS 15. I have followed exactly what you suggest but the moment I open the app it says Update required.
I am really fed up as I need it to work to be able to sell easily otherwise I have to down load photos onto my PC. Do you have any other suggestions please?

Also I can't use my browser- did exactly as asked- deleted the app opened it in my browser -signed in and it said I need to update- and when I select update it says I Need IOS 17 or more. I've seen other people having same issue. If it's not resolved will have to start using Vinted to sell!

You're responding to an old post with outdated info @14dawnie .
Users in the UK on iOS 15 cannot update the app, but you can still access eBay via a web browser on your mobile device and upload your photos that way if it's too inconvenient to download pics to your computer.
You'll want to delete the app so links open in your browser and don't keep pulling up the app with the update message.
You may also want to consider a cloud drive which is accessible from both your mobile device and computer so you can take pics with your phone and they'll instantly be accessible on your computer.

This did not help me. I can only get iOS 15 deleted ebay app waited a week, went in and asked to download older version of app. Once opened it says this app not supported only option was update or exit. When hit update it says phone is not capable. And when hit exit it kicks me out of eBay app?!! My only option is using my browser every time and this is not convenient!!! This will mean for me not using eBay as much as I did for many years, sadly they will lose a lot of custom from this unless it is resolved in some way?
