So I know about the PS5, Xbox Series X, GeForce RTX 30 Series, and Radeon RX 6000 Series scalping. Everyone, if you are a scalper, please stop. There are much better ways to make money than scalping. It is immoral, and I don't know if you agree with me but it should be illegal.
Some of you may say, "In businesses, the company pays to manufacture things and resell them for profit." I am completely aware that is true, and I have no problem with that. But scalpers buy items that have already been assembled, and sell them at blown up prices. And the problem is, the items they scalp are ones people want most(see the top line).
"Oh, but you don't need those things. Be grateful for what you have. They are needs, not wants." Please, this is not a reason not to get mad. PS5s, Xbox Series Xs, and gaming PCs are meant for entertainment. And video games are probably one of the best ways for entertainment.
You may ask, "Why not just buy it from the retailers? That way you won't spend more money than you need to." Well the scalpers make the retailers go out of stock everywhere. Especially considering how they use bots, so as soon as stock comes in they get bought up immediately. We can't buy it in person either, as the pandemic makes console selling online-only.
Everyone, if you are a scalper, please stop. And if you are a person who is considering buying from a scalper... DON'T. Buying from scalpers only encourages them to continue.

i'd love to see someone try this... the "reasoning" might make a great comedy routine...

Actually it is currently illegal to " scalp " during the pandemic. This was brought on due to item shortages when the pandemic first hit and people where caught reselling online for ludicrous profit. Investigations where launched and all these people that where caught where forced to forfeit the items to charity or face a hefty fine and go to jail.
Also eventually this can lead to a major problem for Ebay. People in certain industries and those that are going to school for these fields need a up to date computer. Ebay is for lack of a better word causing damage and harm to these individuals and by Ebay's user agreement you cannot sue without going through arbitration. However by law contracts end and how it is done online is by no longer using the site and eliminating your account. Also external party doesn't abide by Ebay's agreement and are free to litigate. All it takes is a person going to another with no account that can make things happen for example a lawyer could take it upon themself to litigate.
There are loopholes to loopholes, with that I would take some big caution if I was Ebay.

Actually scalping is illegal regardless if we are in a pandemic or not.
The dictionary definition of scalping is "the activity of buying things, such as theatre tickets, at the usual price and then selling them when they are difficult to get at higher prices:". Theater tickets are one example but this pertains to everything.
Buying at the market price and then selling at a higher price when supply is low is scalping and illegal. The scalpers themselves are low lives, we all know this. But the fact that ebay allows illegal activity on their platform is very concerning.
Maybe there should be legal action against ebay for allowing and even fostering illegal activity.

I believe it is under the FTC call the Sherman Antitrust Act that they are referring to about the Scalpers, But I'm am uncertain. Not all laws are enforced, even when they definitely should be enforced. Also look up Ethical laws, one may find the answer they seek.

The Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890 is a United States antitrust law which prescribes the rule of free competition among those engaged in commerce and consequently prohibits unfair monopolies.
