I'll bet most of us own a furbaby or two.  Photos would be fun here.

I have a 12 year old cat named Sophie.  She is half calico and half Russian Blue.  She is fat, spoiled and very verbal in her old age.  I swear she walks in the room and meows what sounds like hello.  My husband has trained her to sit in front of her plate before she gets her morning and afternoon treats.  She actually puts her rear end on the floor and patiently waits those treats.  She is my constant companion and is usually in whatever room I am in.  We have lap time every morning before she takes her nap.

I will try to download a picture of her ... I have lots to choose from.

So, tell us about your pets ...

Good topic Kate,

We no longer have pets of our own.

When first meeting the neighbors next door back in the mid 1990s they explained to us how their cat hated other people. They suggested keeping our distance.

5 minutes later (Roscoe) the cat walked up and looked up at me. I said "Hi Roscoe?" He did not run or appear scared.

The neighbors were facinated. They never saw this. "Especially with men" as they put it.

Next day Roscoe was at the door looking for me. My wife let Roscoe in. He came right to me and began meowing. I meowed back. He became my pal.

From that day on when they let Roscoe out he comes right to our door and wants to come in. He hops up on me and will stay with me and near me all day. When the nieghbors want him to come home they call here. "Bring Roscoe home". We open the door and they have to bribe him to get him to go  home.

Roscoe has a nice big recliner all his own. He parks himself up there overseeing the golf course out back.  He looks like the king.  We call it Roscoe's recliner.

I have never fed him. Just nice to him. All he needs is lots of pets. :^O

He will not go near anyone else other than me and his mom and dad. That's it.

Can you hear him?

Take care hope to read some more pet stories.

I have 2 cats. Mr. Magoo is part Russian Blue and part American Shorthair. Gutsy Girl is a large calico. I don't think I would have ever gotten through this past year without them. They are my company, my source of laughter, my best friends and the loves of my life.

I dont know how to upload a photo.

This is right up my alley.. I have always had a great passion for animals. Beginning at age 3 and here I am 53 and haven't lost any of it.

I have volunteered for animal advocacy groups, shelters, rescues, etc.. all my life and have learned so much and still alot yet to learn!!! Currently I'm assigned Eastern Iowa ambassador for a very hard working group, "Iowa Voters For Companion Animals". Our current and main effort is to ensure humane treatment for the thousands of dogs in puppy mills. The group has made many legislative changes without having to cause chaos.

Iowa ranks second in states with the most puppy mills. So we have a real problem here. I wish I could function better and be of more help to the group but I do what I can.

Don't want to bore you any longer so will send a seperate reply on my fur baby...

We only have one kitty now after having to put our other one, '"Coddy" to sleep in Feb. due to cancer. Then we found in April our other kitty, Sami" is in renal failure so we are spoiling and loving him in a big way!!

I want to share a story of how we got the name Coddy.-- It was in '95 we found her as a stray. I called my nephew, age 2 at the time to tell him we had a new family member and we needed a name for her. He immediately said something very similiar to Coddy, which he probably meant, Kitty. I asked him how to spell it and he said Coeatty. Coddy was easier so spell so we went with that. She was a very special tabby and our other one is a long hair boy.

We'd love to get another kitty or puppy but with Sami's condition it would only stress him. The vet. said a kitten would be best but not recommended. So we will continue to put all our energy and love into Sami. I'll send pictures later.

We need to speak for the voiceless..

This is a wonderful volunteer service you are doing for society. Helping animals comes from the  heart.

We have puppy mills here in Florida too. They are disgusting. With all the budget cuts help for the puppies has dried up. The area runs fund raisers for them. They get the kids involved too. Washing cars and other interesting donation things.

Keep up the good work

Yea, Florida does have many problem puppy mills and there are some groups there doing great work. It's awesome that kids are getting involved. It's up to them to carry on where we, "older folks" have had to slow down.

These type of breeders make great money using the least of their profits to maintain a clean and healthy environment for the mama's and their pups. The buyers of these pet shops then pay with their broken hearts and pocket books. It's sad.

As much as I would like to give examples and share what I've learned, I will not, out of respect for the board. Unless anyone messages me.

Enjoy your fur baby/s.... Janet

I've never understood how these puppy mills are able to stay in business. There are always stories on the news about how horrible they are and how people should adopt from shelters or reputable breeders. Are people that oblivious?

Yes they sure are a disgusting group being able to abuse puppies like that. In Florida they really do shut them down. The puppies become available to good homes if people want them.

They actually run the fund raisers for the Society that was formed by citizens to go after the puppy mills. They really get a lot of young involved in the fund raisers. Donations from area businesses.

Maybe I will be in heaven someday when one of these puppy mill owners is explaining this go God.

Janet please send me the message you were mentioning that would be eductional.

So many messages and many pictures of farms you'd never believe were full of ill puppies. If you want to learn alot and get information on every puppy mill issue and many pictures, which are hard to look at but without eyes we do not see what needs changed. I would visit www.caps-web.org

I've never used Photo Bucket but would think it would be like all others. Have you downloaded from other programs?

Sorry I missed the question about photo bucket last time. Never did try that one.

You may be able to "right click" on the picture. Then choose "save this". Then go paste it in one of your picture folders. This usually works for me in most places.

Sounds like it's gonna be fun to see what you have. :^O
