Not getting FB from buyers

Well... I sold my 1st 2 items and did quite well, I think. But haven't received any FB from the buyers. I know the FB would help me but how do I get it without sounding pushy? Any ideas from you, wonderful people... Thanks so much, Janet

Re: Not getting FB from buyers

Janet, the best you can do is leave nice feedback for the buyer and hope they'll reciprocate.

Many buyers never leave feedback at all, probably for many different reasons, so don't take it personally.

Re: Not getting FB from buyers

Janet, Pat is right, many buyers just don't take the time to leave feedback.  Personally, I never, as a seller, leave feedback until the buyer does so for me.  As a buyer, I leave feedback when I receive my merchandise.

So hang in there, FB scores will start to appear for you.

Continued good luck with your sales.

Before ebay instituted the DSRs I used to send emails asking my buyers to leave feedback. I don't know if it's still there but there used to be a form letter you could send. Since the DSR's I never ask for feedback because I know the buyer would have already left positives and 5's if they're happy.

However, since you are a brand new seller, it might not hurt to send a personal email explaining how you are brand new and how important the feedback is to new sellers.

Good luck with selling and getting those feedbacks!

Re: Not getting FB from buyers

I would always give sellers FB so I just assumed they would. I even gave 1 of my 1st and maybe the 2nd (?) FB as soon as they paid but I will not continue doing that. I'm going to wait for theirs first.

I may send them emails asking for it just since I'm getting started. Thanks for all your replies and I'll have plenty more questions as I go along. I just love this group.... So helpful and kind.

Re: Not getting FB from buyers

My thought on FB is no FB is good FB.. but that might be different for a new seller because needing to get the FB up.

As a seller i leave it after they do because that's how i know the recieved the product and are atleast not complaining..  honestly i should say "I leave feedback when it comes up on my to do list".. LOL :).. but i don't leave any for buyers who don't leave any for me, nor do i bug buyers for FB becasue that's just asking for trouble IMO... because unless they leave a Positive and 5 stars, it HURTS my ratings NOT help.. and new buyers and buyers who are really sellers seem to be just nasty with the DSR's at times.

AS a buyer i leave FB when i recieve and when i get around to it...  for me it has nothing to do with anything but my own distractions :)..

there are many opinions on as to who should leave FB first the buyer or seller... and many older buyers aren't going to leave a FB until they get one from the seller.. So many games!  now that the buyers can't get Neg's...  im not going to give them a postive if they were crappy buyers.. slow to pay, hassling me....    so i wait til i hear from them.... and if  i had my way i'd never get another FB again..

I would rather do away with the whole system.. i think it sucks.

Some times i put in feedback that the buyer was slow to pay.. but what else is there, really??? a glowing postitive with a bunch of negative words is silly. a positive with anything less than 5 stars is mean and detrimental to sellers.

Re: Not getting FB from buyers

Sophie I use that automatic leave the feedback thing. So the buyer gets it instantly when they pay. Seems to make them very happy.

Doing some research with a program left over from my business days, it calculated only 33% of the people were leaving me feedback.

These days people are running in 40 directions at once and have no time to leave it maybe?

Enjoy your day,

DWB

Re: Not getting FB from buyers

What would you do?  I sent out a package to my buyer to the address he provided.  Today, he sent me an email saying that the package did not arrive because it had insufficient address on it.  He forgot to include his apt number!  So the package is on its way back to me and I will have to relabel and reship.  Told him I would split the reshipping cost with him.  Trying to be nice and work out an amicable solution to the problem.  This is his first ebay purchase.

He left a neutral feedback on my site saying that I shipped to the wrong address and it took forever to get back to him.  I haven't even received the package back here yet!!!

I emailed him and told him I thought his feedback was unfair.  That I was working with him to keep him informed ... I even told him that I would be out of town for three days so the package will probably go out on Mon.

Do I have any recourse to explain my side of the story on a neutral feedback?

Thanks for letting me vent.

Kate

Re: Not getting FB from buyers

I figured out how to leave a comment after feedback so feel a little vindicated that I could declare it was buyers mistake not mine in the insufficient address.  I still hate to have neutral on my record though.

Kate, I had the same problem and went to my post office. They reshipped it without charging me anything extra. Not including the apartment number is not reason to not deliver. At least that's what my post office told me.

Re: Not getting FB from buyers

Kate,

I don't think you should get a neutral for shipping to the address he gave you. It was all you had to go by. Since he's new at buying he may not understand the rules. Maybe Ebay can have it removed. I don't know the rules for sure but I'd be checking. You don't deserve a neutral..

I would think the postal service in this buyers area would have shipped to him without the apt.# since they usually go by the name. I'd be talking to the post office and getting them to take the hit. And not you. Keep us posted

Re: Not getting FB from buyers

I spoke with my local post office and they said I would have to relabel and reship ... I won't be home when my mailman comes by but I am going to leave a detailed note for him and see if he is in my corner about just reshipping it with the added apt # on it ... it's a flat rate medium box and could have been left in the mgr's office.

Will let you know what happens next week.

Re: Not getting FB from buyers

Holy Moly you sure found a beauty here.

Here's a DWB saying to think about:

"There are more asses than there are horses"

When I have a buyer with a mess I always call them on the phone.  Let them know right away:
"I am sorry this did not work out well"

Usually with a phone call they become not only under the "DWB Saying" above but they become a good customer.

Had one last year who left a Neutral because:
"Overpackaging Violation"

When calling him he said "it took him too long to open it cause if was packed so well" ?:|

After talking with him he removed the neutral and that was it.

The buyer you have has only been a member of Ebay for 5 days. It could not have taken forever for anything. What a  _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Fill in your choice..... :^O

It makes ya feel real bad I sure understand that. If you see this before leaving hope you enjoy your trip with your daughter.

Be safe out there,

DWB

Once the item gets to your buyer, you can ask them to change the feedback. If that doesn't work, you can respond to their feedback and explain what happened so everyone can see.
