How can you clear items found on a phone that are under "frequently searched by you"?

I figured it out. You cannot get rid of the category. All you can do is to search for a different category enough times so that the other one goes away and is replaced by the new one.

I just tap on that header and it brings up all the items. At top right it will say edit, tap each item to delete or you can check all of them and delete.

That works for searches I saved, but for some reason, ebay automatically shows a category "frequently searched by you" when I bring ebay up on my phone. I cannot get rid of that category.

Oh I misunderstood sorry, you want to rid yourself of this entire category? Hmmm I don't think you can do that, it's a good selling tool for ebay I would think.

I just want to get rid of the things they say I frequently search for.

Using a desktop browser it is possible to use an ad blocker to suppress that field on the main eBay page -- at least in your own browser.
Otherwise you can try performing new searches to displace the old search.

I use the desktop platform, and there is no "frequently searched by you" items displayed. There is, however, a display of "Your Recently Viewed Items." It looks like this:
There are similar displays headed:
Can you provide a snippet/screenshot of the display you'd like to hide? Not the actual thumbnails, but just the heading?
Like @silverstatetreasureboxes , I understood you to be referring to the display of "Your Recently Viewed Items." That entire display can be emptied by click on "See all" in the snippet above, and then clicking on the "Clear all link--on the desktop, anyway.
Note that this would have to be done after every time you were finished browsing in the eBay marketplace.
If this is not what you're looking for on the mobile app, please post more specific, detailed information so someone can get a better idea of what you're interested in.

I think the OP is referring to this particular heading on the main page, with a "Frequently searched by you" subtitle:
Unfortunately, last time I checked, using the "Clear all" on the Recently Viewed page did not affect that particular row of items, which could only be displaced by performing additional searches.
There may be similar rows of items with subtitles like "Recommended for you" that behave similarly.
Rows based on Saved Searches can be dealt with by unsaving saved searches, but rows based on general search history cannot be easily erased.

My issue only shows up on my I-phone, not on my computer.

Apparently I don't perform enough searches on eBay, because I don't have any headings or subheadings labeled "Frequently search by you"--just the "Recommended for you." LOL!
Anywho--that's why I asked the OP for a snippet (like the one you provided).

Well, I don't recall asking you that in my post. I do recall asking you for a screenshot or snippet showing what you're talking about.
Perhaps it would be a better idea to post this question on the iOS App board so someone with specific knowledge of that app might be able to address your concerns.
Here's a link to the iOS App board, should you choose to post there:

Sometimes that can happen when a seller edits an existing listing to sell an entirely different product. Check the item's revision history.
Others have reported seeing odd things on the Recently Viewed page shortly after dealing with customer service.
If it keeps happening, check your active sessions for sign-ins you do not recognize and consider changing your password.
