I bought something (auction) and immediately paid when it was over. It was only after clicking the Pay Now button to send payment that I realized Ebay was charging my credit card on file instead of my Paypal account. I was able to switch it back for my next purchase with no problem, but has anyone else seen this? I doubt it had anything to do with the new payment system, but it might have. I had to use the new payment system to buy Ebay-branded envelopes to supplement the store owner credit, but that was a while ago. OTOH Ebay being Ebay...?

I am not certain, but it might be defaulting to the last payment method used.
If that is the case, every time you use Managed Payments, you will have to be sure to switch back to paypal for the next transaction, if that is what you want.
If that does not work, you can delete your credit card details from the "Checkout saved payment methods" of your Account: Personal Information.

This happened to me when I used my MasterCard to take advantage of a $10 off promotion offered by eBay. After using my credit card my next purchase was also charged to that card. I had to set my default back to PayPal.

The weird part is I never reset it in the first place; Ebay forced the credit card charge on me the first time. Paypal wasn't an option - they switched those items to the new payment system only. Logically, the default should have stayed Paypal. I did reset it later and now it's back where it belongs.

It may not be a glitch but rather the seller being enrolled in the managed payment scheme eBay has set in place. PayPal is currently not a payment option in it and isn't scheduled to be until July, I believe.

You're right~eBay has said that Paypal should be added in the summer of 2019.
