Buyers should have to pay fee/penalized

I'm not sure what your plan is but any plan that shifts some or any of the responsibility of a successful ebay sale on to the buyer with quantifiable visible penalties...I'm on board with 6977979826752984372827%

Buyers should have to pay fee/penalized

@get-collecting,

"Buyers should have to pay fee/penalized".

O)K, I'll bite, for what? Canceling transactions, retracting bids, not paying, using (renting) new items, then returning them as SNAD... ?  There's a long list of things I could mention, so Please, tell us more.

Buyers should have to pay fee/penalized

Idk why what I wrote didn't save. But anyhow what I had said. I do alot of auction based selling vs buy it now being the product I sell sits longer vs auction based. So the more product I sell I use profits to reinvest. That being said I do sell alot at times on auction every week. Most buyers pay rite away or next day and I was very lenient if took longer than 48hrs for a payment as most items are 10-20$ on auction. I get messages saying I'll pay in 2 weeks. I mean really for 10$ item. So I now just open a case within 48hrs to get my final value fee. That being said back to my title. If buyers had to pay a fee for unpaid items after a certain time frame I feel it would cut down/cut back on unpaid items. And my thinking it's a % of final cost just like sellers have to pay Ebay fees. I mean not trying to be stubborn but I waste so much time on in paid items and put alot of time into listing. As I usually do 7 day auctions and then it takes a week for the buyer to tell me they dont want it will pay in another week. I just loose so much time. I like the auctions cause like I said I move product within a week vs times my buy it now idk why but sit longer and do with the auction people bid with emotions and dont think actually how much they are spending until said and done. And to some of items are very rare and they just bid them up dont pay until I relist it to bid again. That I have been noticing but then again blocking them wont stop cause can just make another Ebay account. So my thinking buyers should have to pay a % of the final sale and in which the seller receives and or even Ebay get its. I just think people will think twice before what they are doing. My biggest problem is just the time I waste. I'm a patient person but when it happens every week it gets old.

Clearly, some categories have more non-payers or slow payers.  I'm sorry that your items fall into that category.  Have you tried fixed price with immediate payment required?

A) if they cannot force payments of auctions how would they force payment of a penalty?

B) Ebay seems to consider this a marginal offense at best. I have not heard of anyone suspended for nonpayment in a long time. They DO allow sellers a bidder block though

C) Non-payment happens when the buyer changes their mind. Have you never changed your mind? Ever returned anything to the store because you decided you don't need it after all? Did the store stamp a big R on your forehead?

1) I sell collectibles. And graded cards you cant just go to the store and buy what I sell. Most of items I sell are imported goods and not from America.

2) I dont return things because I think about things before I buy them and when I win am auction I pay immediate. Can go look at my feedback if wish.

3) Ebay could easily setup a system that automatically withdraws money. I use other auction based places that you cannot bid unless PayPal is linked and as soon as you win they automatically take the money and seller is paid.

4) even if I block a buyer they can make a new Ebay. Blocking wont stop them.

5) my idea would work very well and it wont affect people who pay just the ones who dont pay.  They would think twice before bidding if they had to pay a fee for unpaid items

6) I been setting up more buy it now and immediate payment but sales are much slower. Can setup weekly sales and move product alot faster vs buy it now.

I have and doing it more frequently. I just liked the auctions cause I move product faster. Cause all my profits I just turn around to buy more product to sell. So I stay pretty tight with my time Haha. Sometimes I dont have the problem but it's been getting worse.

eBay can not access a buyer's funds.

An attempt to do that would not work, and likely would be illegal.

I always pay, but if such a process was put in place my buying days on eBay would end.

I'm confuse on how waiting for an auction to end can move stock faster than a BIN with IPR.  Please explain that. Maybe it will work for me.

Because people arent buying them at buy it now prices. I start my auctions at .01 and people start bidding with emotions and I surpass my buy it now prices or meet them. Times I sit 2 or 3 weeks on an item but putting on auction at .01 it's gone in a week. Alot of people that deal with these trading cards mainly graded will even do 24hr auction. It could be the same card at a buy it now can sit almost a month.

They can set up where you have to PayPal linked and make an agreement. Just like I do with auto pay my fees lol. They take it whenever they want. Look into a buyee and zenmarket. Its for Yahoo auctions and you cannot bid unless PayPal is linked and when the auction ends the money is takin out of my PayPal account automatically.

I think there are few buyers out there who would give Ebay unfettered access to their payment method. I know I wouldn't.

I know non-payment is a pain in the butt but putting onerous requirements on innocent buyers would not seem to be a good alternative.

I have spent over a quarter million dollars on Ebay. I have NEVER refused to pay for a win. I would stop buying if they required me to give them access to my credit card.
