Unable to browse categories

As of 4/15/23 from the show all categories page, selecting "view all..." under a category does nothing.

No where in the show all categories page is the category "consumer electronics" or the sub categories like "ham radio transmitters"

Re: Unable to browse categories

@fintronics,

I'm having trouble taking a screen shot but I did a search for Shortwave radio [Consumer Electronics]  and on the search results page in the left hand column the first filter under the Consumer electronic header is [Radio Communications]  If you click on that the page reloads, and a filter for

[Ham, Amateur Radio] appears.  Further down the column are filters for Brand  Type  and Band

Re: Unable to browse categories

It problem isn't searching, it's selecting/browsing a category from the "shop by category" "all categories " page...

There is no "consumer electronics" category anywhere in that list let alone any sub categories.

Re: Unable to browse categories

Thanks for the reply, at very least I know I'm not the only with this issue..

Clearing cache doesn't fix it. I'm using Chrome on Windows 10.

Re: Unable to browse categories

If you're able to list an item for sale in a specific category, you certainly should be able to select and browse that category from the E-bay list of categories. This is a problem.

Re: Unable to browse categories

@fintronics,

If you select the main All Categories drop down list,  there is a Consumer electronics filter sandwiched between Computers/tablets... and  Crafts, There has never been a sub category list available from the main Category list, once you choose a category.  The All Categories box you see with an arrow takes you back to the default All categories search.

On the first search results page is where you will find the Radio Communications sub filter, and the other ones I mentioned in the left hand column.  You have to click on each of those one at a time to refine your search to more specific results.

Re: Unable to browse categories

I'm on the "All categories" page right now and I don't see any "consumer electronics"

What do you mean sandwiched between laptop/tablet and crafts?

Sorry, just not seeing what you're describing.

Re: Unable to browse categories

@fintronics,

No wonder why you and I are having difficulty understanding one another.  In all of my years on ebay, I have never even seen the page you linked. I could not even figure out where to find that page.

I mostly use the long thin Search for anything box, that has a Categories box w/ a drop down arrow on the right. The screen shot below is the first search results page for Ham Radio. Note the search title "Ham Radio" and the Consumer electronics in the category box, Also the left hand column where there is a Radio Communication filter.  The other filters for Brand, Band, Condition are lower down in the column. There are also filters just under the search bar that can be clicked on to reduce the results from 72,000 items. Each filter you use will reset the search results page, until you get the best search results for what you are trying to find.

I some times use the Advanced button just to the right of the blue Search box, in a smaller font.  That page works a little better when searching for specific items. The link below is the Advanced search page.

https://www.ebay.com/sch/ebayadvsearch?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw=ham+radio&_sacat=2...

Using that page you can find the prices for items that have sold, to get an idea of trending prices for specific items,  and you can search using exact words in the title you enter.

Re: Unable to browse categories

OOPS,

I was involved in an email conversation with a friend in Europe and did not see the post you wrote saying you had figured out we were using different pages.   Multi tacking is not my forte.
