Unable to bid on item using Win 10 Firefox or Edge

Unable to bid on item using Win 10 Firefox or Edge browsers.

This started yesterday and the same today.

I have logged out, restarted the PC, turned off Adblocker, all with no change.

I can however bid on the same item using my Samsung phone.

Win 10 did do an update a few days ago, and i hadn't bid on anything else since before the update.

So this may be the issue.

Re: Unable to bid on item using Win 10 Firefox or Edge

Is this only me, or is there a larger issue?

I have not encountered any bidding problems using the latest version of any recommended browsers I have tried on Windows machines. I have not tried Safari.

The problems I encountered were with non-recommended browsers like Waterfox.

When you installed Chrome did you change any settings or install any add-ons? It might also be worth trying another device to rule out device issues. Possibly some privacy or security software or setting is conflicting with some ebay.com feature.

Re: Unable to bid on item using Win 10 Firefox or Edge

I have had the exact same problems for nearly a week now, i have tried Edge, Firefox, Opera and Chrome on my Windows 10 Desktop and can't place a Bid and getting the 2 Screens posted above but i can Bid on my Motorola G 6 phone. I am not sure if it is ebay or windows that are at fault but about 2 weeks ago i did notice some small changes on the ebay  page layout.

@castiger1957

Are you able to place a bid on ebay.ca?

Are you using any privacy or security software that might be causing an issue?

Re: Unable to bid on item using Win 10 Firefox or Edge

Hi eburtonlab , i have been able to place a Bid on ebay.ca but not here in the UK or Germany, so i am wondering if the fault is specific to Europe or the faulty update has not yet been released in Canada / North America, maybe we are the Testing Ground before it's Rolled out.

I have run Edge for 3 years without any problems and have tried 3 different browsers and i couldn't Bid on any of them but could Bid on my Motorola phone.

Thanks for your help, i have had all the same problems as you and the ebay.ca route worked for me too, as far as i can work it out it's a problem here in Europe but not in North America.

You may want to try posting on the UK or DE community boards to see if others there are running into the same issue.

Or else try contacting eBay in those countries to see if there is a service ticket for that issue that you can add your name to, or to get the process started for a new service ticket.

Re: Unable to bid on item using Win 10 Firefox or Edge

Thanks again for all the comments and suggestions. I think i have finally resolved the issue.

it was Adblocker ultimate, although it has been fine for years it seems to be the problem even though it was disabled on ebay.

I notice while on the Gov.uk site (it was disabled as well) i got a blank screen while trying to get my wifes gateway id confirmed. by enabling and disabling the addblocker the screen refreshed and i could proceed. So i decided to removed and uninstall it. So after that it seems to be back to normal even with a new adblocker.

Re: Unable to bid on item using Win 10 Firefox or Edge

I'm having the same issue here in the US.  I've tried other-country sites with no success.  eBay functions as normal @ work (WinServer2008/outdated Firefox) but no luck on either home PC.  Both are Win7 with multiple browser options, and I can't bid or accept offers.  I went through all the usual suspects (cache, cookies, reboot, reboot modem/router) to no avail.  This is the only glitch I'm having with either PC on any site or program, period.

eBay made a change, I didn't.  It's obviously costing them since others report the same issue.

Perhaps eBay should lay off some programmers, since much of their work is changing the site for the worse:  the dreadful gallery view they just won't stop hounding me to try, skewed appearance on PCs (why is my watch list so wide?), constantly opening a new tab to increase ad revenue.  Another way to increase profits is to cut the dead weight, you know.eBayGlitch_S.jpg

Re: Unable to bid on item using Win 10 Firefox or Edge

It is also happening to me on Mint 20.04 and Firefox latest, I can buy BIN items, but open auctions refuse to work on the bidding tab with the following message

"Looks like we’re having trouble connecting to our server. Refresh your browser window to try again."

Cleared cache completely, turned of any script blockers, still the same broken site.

It has been the same for several days now

What operating system are you using? Have you tried disabling all add-ons? Can you bid on ebay.ca?

Not having any problems getting a bidding window to load on ebay.com using Firefox 126.0.1 (64-bit) on a Windows 10 machine.

Check your SSL/TLS client to see if it is OK:
