Did you mean:

The same item on two different sellers pages using the exact same photos.

Is this a potential scam? There are two different companies or sellers supposedly selling the exact same item and using the exact same pictures of the item on each others page. They are also listing the item at different prices and shipping costs.

Wouldn't this mean you're not actually receiving the item pictured for sale?

Re: The same item on two different sellers pages using the exact same photos.

@mitchellpanarri,

I would not buy from either seller.

The first one has a bad by ebay standards feedback percentage. Any seller who has sold over 100items in the last year, that has a feedback percentage below 98.6% should be avoided.  They also do not have the location listed properly It should give a City & Country, Ex: Tokyo, Japan.

The second seller when you open the listing has a different username. While they have a 100% rating, it is all for Buying not selling. They too list the item location as Japan, Japan which is inappropriate, and they ship using SpeedPak which is a China based international shipper. Even if the seller is not a scammer, it is highly likely that they do not know about the 21-30 day hold ebay will place on their first received payments, and they will not ship the item or cancel the sale.

Before buying from any seller no matter what their feedback percentage is, check their feedback profile page.

Scroll down a listing page until you see the seller's username in a large font. Under it will be a few comments, and under that a See All Feedback button. Click on it. On the page that opens you will see the following line above some comments.

Click on the switch back to classic view. That will show you the box with the number's of neutral and negative feedback a seller has received, which can be clicked on to read only those comments.

While it is not totally unusual for seller's to use the same photos of an item, it should never be done with a used item.

Re: The same item on two different sellers pages using the exact same photos.

Unless the item is unique or VERY rare, then there are likely to be 100s-100,000s of people selling the same thing here and since eBay allows listing copying and stock photos it's quite likely they all look the same.

As said above there's plenty of other reasons to avoid these sellers though..

Re: The same item on two different sellers pages using the exact same photos.

While they is not a unique item and they could be using a stock photo from the manufacturer.  Cameras are a high fraud item.  When you see too good to be true prices, they always are.  Neither of those sellers would I trust.

You should have no problems finding that from far better sellers.  If you find other sellers have a much higher price, that's a clear warning those low prices are a scam.

Not necessarily..many sellers have multiple accounts due to their split personality…🧐🥂

Re: The same item on two different sellers pages using the exact same photos.

I've noticed that it's common among Japanese sellers that multiple sellers/IDs will list the same item with the same pictures.

I think they do it to (try to) get more exposure and I assume that if it sells from one seller, the others will end their listings.

IMO, it's sneaky and underhanded and I wouldn't buy from them.

Re: The same item on two different sellers pages using the exact same photos.

Why bother to consider either seller when this 50mm Mamiya lens is available for a lot less money from this and other reputable sellers in the US
