Sellers cancelling transactions and buyers losing money.

Ok so I made a purchase on ebay using my credit card and the seller contacts me and says they are unable to ship the item to me. I'm ok with that its not a big deal things happen. My problem is that when I checked my bank statement I was shorted $10, then a couple of days ago I had another cancellation and I was shorted $10 again. REALLY???? This makes shopping on ebay very difficult for us in the future.

Could it be the sales tax that eBay will refund ?

I have never been shorted on a refund, I know it can happen when purchasing off shore/exchange rates vary daily etc, but not an internal purchase.

This has only happened to us since we stopped paying with paypal. Either way its not good for business, if I'm to be charged a $10 fee for simply making a purchase which was cancelled then it makes me less likely shop here or shop online at all. I'm going to contact the bank shortly.

Just got off the phone and the bank is charging me on my end because the transaction was made then cancelled. All I can say is wow, we never saw charges like this through paypal. This makes it less encouraging to shop here.

Sounds to me like it's a "your bank" problem, not an ebay problem. Why can't you pay with paypal? I still do. I have cards linked to my account and pay out of paypal. I just did it today.

Visa is charging the transaction fee. Ebay went into managed payments so buyers could use different payment types and now buyers will be slugged for a transaction fee if a seller cancels the order. Hardly fair from the buyers end. Not ebay's fault.... ok
