Did you mean:

Seller suddenly refunds a few days after purchase and claims something is wrong with my address.

Hi all,

Today I experienced something really strange.

I'll describe it here:

I bought a wheel for my car a few days ago, and paid instantly. I bis and seller accepted. I paid immediately.

So I wait for a shipping to occour.

Today, after I come home from work, I get this strange message, that seller and refunded me, because something is incorrect with my address.

Nothing is wrong. Absolutely nothing.

I have looked at it today, and it's perfectly okay.

I have been using my name and address for years buying things, and this has never ever happened.

I tried to contact Ebay, but that, I am afraid, is not possible.

Have any of you experienced this before?

Really weird.

It's like someone else want to buy it, and seller cancel me and sells to someone else.

Weird.

I have written a message to the seller, but haven't heard anything.

Any good advice is highly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Jacques

It may not apply to your purchase

BUT

Some sellers who wish to avoid being penalized for cancelling an order cancel with the reason - undeliverable address.

Yep, I read that on Ebay, but Ebay also says very clearly, that this is illegal practice, and it is not allowed.

What should I do?

As mentioned, I've contacted the seller, but no reply so far. I think by tomorrow, I'll report the seller to ebay if that is possible. But he has to have a fair chance to answer.

I think  it is really bad selling practice, to be honest.

Kind regards.

@jacquesredfox

You can report the seller here. The seller is trying to avoid a defect. They're not going to answer you.

It is possible your seller is new to ebay or to that product and found that shipping was going to wipe out the sale. I've run into this myself, paid more to ship an item than I was paid for it even without the fees. I went ahead and shipped it, but would not be surprised if someone decided to cut their losses.

The listing is the seller's responsibility and their errors do not justify them to cancel and lie about the reason after the item was sold. Ebay needs to charge sellers cancelling transactions a fee, it's not supposed to be an easy way out. The buyer should be compensated with that fee for their loss.

That would be nice but to be clear, eBay doesn't give the buyer compensation beyond the refund itself.

While I agree that seller cancellations are a problem, this solution would only be fair if eBay also charges nonpaying buyers. I think if you tally it up they're an even bigger problem.

A, The seller did not have the item and lied to avoid getting dinged for an out of stock sale.

B, The seller found out it would cost far more to ship than what they charged and lied to avoid getting dinged for refusing to sell.

Maybe the seller doesn’t ship to Denmark and forgot to change their shipping policy.

DING, DING, DING I think we have a winner.  Did the seller offer International shipping?

That is a good point and with the way International Shipping options are provided the seller may not have even realized until after the sale the wheel was to be sent internationally.

If they did it both ways that's fine. It would be a win-win for me since I always pay but get items cancelled often. Also by eliminating more bidders that don't pay by charging a fee, it would reduce the sport bidders that often run the bid up higher.

As far a non-payers being a bigger problem there is no way to know because I bet many cancellations by sellers are never reported and go under the radar.

Don’t confuse non paying buyers with sellers who lie  and put a blame on honest buyer..

Huh??? Nonpaying buyers lie when they make a purchase they have no intention of paying for and causing time and monetary issues for an honest seller . So I'm not seeing that either side has the moral high ground here.
