Hi All,
I ordered an item from eBay of around $900 price. After 3 days, I received the package that had totally different item of price around $10 - $20. I send a message to seller with the image of item I received. Seller immediately replied that this is not the item he send me, he also send me the image of original item next to the envelope that has my address on it. But this envelope looks different than I received. He keep refusing that he send me wrong item and calling me scammer and telling me that if I am sending the item back it should be the original item that was ordered not the item that I received. I start a return request but I am not sure how to properly handle this. I want my refund.

1st time I have heard/seen this.
I stand confused and corrected.

Thank you for your input. Have to wonder, however, how often it works out well for the buyer to first contact the seller vs simply taking advantage of the MBG and opening a case. We see quite a few posts here from buyers who tried to work it out with the seller with grievous results.

Yet ebay supplied return labels never address the insurance or signature required issue.
It's been a long standing grievance by sellers.
FWIW the photo of the return label in that post appears to be a Seller supplied label, hence the RMA #

That's what I was going to say. That seems like a seller label not an eBay issued label. The eBay issued ones don't have signature confirmation or insurance.

Update: seller received the item. He still refuses to accept that he send wrong item and calling me scammer. He also said that he filed a police complaint against me.

Ignore all that, and completely stop talking to the seller. When you @atiah66 use an eBay return label -- that's the "buyer has uploaded tracking" here:
You will get a refund within 2 business days -- that's Monday and Tuesday next week -- from when tracking shows delivered back to the seller.
If the seller doesn't refund in 2 business days
-- eBay will automatically force the refund.
Or if seller asks eBay to step in to make the decision
-- eBay will automatically force the refund.
Otherwise if ... you get the picture
-- eBay will automatically force the refund.
It doesn't matter if the eBay return label
- doesn't have the required signature confirmation, or
- the we-wish-it-had insurance, or
- if it is never delivered:
When it's an eBay return label, you get a refund.

There is a third possibility, the seller and buyer could be telling the truth and someone in the postal system swapped labels on the packages and made off with the $900.00 item. I lost an iPhone this way.

That is really helpful thank.

Update: I got full refund, thanks to everyone for help. Here is the response I received from eBay:
“After reviewing your case, it appears that the item was returned in a different condition from how it was shipped. However, in this case, you'll still receive a refund.”

Just ignore the seller.

ah so you got the refund, perfect.
The seller's "police report" matters nothing, the police does not get involved in matters ebay / amazon / walmart / online sales.
