Seller claims package is on the way. Doesn’t look like it.

I recently bought an item for around $300 and I had to pull teeth to get this seller to even make the shipping label. It’s been 4 days with no tracking updates other than “label” created. When I confronted the seller on this they claim the package is on the way and will arrive soon. The seller only answers half of my questions about what is going on and take 12 hours to respond to each always in a single sentence and very informally. They have promised two times now that I’d get an update or they would find out what happened however nothing substantial other than an empty reply happens. Is this a known scam or something? Why would they try and keep this facade going if there is a money back guarantee and the seller accepts refunds? What is going on?!?

@griffin.k-74,

It sounds to me like the seller is about experienced at selling as you are at buying on ebay. The long tije inbetween responses could mean that the seller is located in a different time zone.

To find out if they are a new or inexperienced seller, Go to your purchase history, and open the listing.  Scroll down the page  to where you see the seller's username in a large font. Below it will be a few comments, and under them a See all feedback button. When you click on it the seller's profile will open. At the top you will see what country the seller registered from. Below that will be a box with the 3 types of feedback a seller can receive. You can click on the numbers of neutral and negative a seller has received to read only those comments.  If a high volume seller has a feedback percentage less than 98.6% you probably do not want to buy from them.

   In this case you want to click on the As A Seller tab, to see if the seller has any feedback for selling before, or if their last sale was over a year ago. If you find that the seller has not received feedback for selling before or in the last 12 months, chances are they ran into the 21 day hold ebay places on all new or returning seller's first few payments, and they do not know how to deal with it.  If you want the item not a refund, message your seller again and tell them if they have not shipped the item because your payment status is marked as Pending, to do a Google search for;

"Payments on hold, ebay".  If they do that they will get the information needed to ship the item and get the funds released.

If yo would rather not deal with the seller any longer, on the day after the last estimated delivery date which you can find in your order details, click on the More Actions button in your purchase history, select I haven't received it then file the dispute. Your seller will have 3 days to prove they got it to a shipping agency, and if they do not reply or can't prove it was shipped, you can use the ask ebay to step in button in the returns section of your My eBay summary page. They will process a refund from the seller's account.

We wouldn't know if this is a scam or what is going on with the seller. You are given a 30 day money back guarantee. Look for the estimated delivery date. The next day after that file a claim as "not received." The seller will then be required to post a tracking number. If they don't and the time expires for them you can have Ebay step in on the case and you would then eventually get your money back. Things happen who knows why this seller isn't being reliable. For a $300 sale reliable sellers would ship off quickly and answer any questions you may have.

@griffin.k-74 open an Item Not Received claim through Ebay one day past the Estimated Delivery Date.

It kind of sounds like the seller is dropshipping? Where is the Item Location and where is the seller located on his "About Me" page?

It is possible your item is in the custody of the carrier although tracking states label created, hopefully you will soon receive delivery of your purchase
