Seller cancels order without explanation

Seller had two identical items in two separate lots.

One was for 29.99 and for unknown reasons the other was 44.99.

I bought the one for 29.99 and offered for the other one $30. (the same money)

The seller declined my offer.

Since I needed two of these I bought the other one as well and paid the higher price of $44.99 for this one.

The seller then cancelled my first order for $29.99 without explanation and shipped me the one for $44.99.

Then he refunded me $29.99.

I thought that when I press buy and I pay for it... this is a binding contract.

Apparently not. Sellers simply cancel the order, when they do not like the price. I am sure, some buyers do the same, but I NEVER do that.

Where do I complain to ebay...

I already know the answer... I cannot, nobody cares.

But I will give this seller a negative feedback, then again, nobody cares about that either.

Ebay should collect complaints about buyers and sellers and when the barrel is full, delete their accounts.

But they do not do that, this would be bad for business.

Sellers do have their selling privileges restricted or removed for violating eBay policies and eBay does collect complaints. You can report the seller here for failing to follow through on the sale:

Re: Seller cancels order without explanation

I suspect the seller had double listed the only item he had.

Sometimes this is a seller error, but every time I put my listings into alphabetical order, I find half a dozen double listings that I am quite sure are not my doing.

However, you ordered the $29.99 item and should not have been billed for the higher priced one.

A small caveat -- was the $44.99 item plus shipping or was it Free/ Shipping/ Included?

On re-reading.

Well, as a Best Practice, the seller should have cancelled the higher value order and shipped the lower value one. That's just good customer service, and leaves open the possibility that if he gets another one he has a ready customer (you) .

Still -- how was shipping set up for the listings?

Re: Seller cancels order without explanation

Double listing sounds plausible....

There are a lot of other irregularities on his site (big seller) and he cannot get his ship tidy.

both had shipping charges.

Thanks
