Scammers selling counterfeit currency and eBay doesn’t care

Scammers selling counterfeit currency on EBay, and they could care less.  Talked to half a dozen customer support agents, whom I could barely understand and they informed me that I need to wait for these scammers to provide me a refund and ship them the counterfeit coins back 😂.  I informed them that it’s a felony here in the United States to counterfeit currency, to include possessing and shipping it.  Of course all they could do was keep parroting pre written responses.

What a joke.

Re: Scammers selling counterfeit currency and eBay doesn’t care

The true reality is...

you have NO proof of anything. There is NO proof that the coin you cut in half is the one you received. There is NO proof that the coin being held that is cut in half is not a copy of a 'cut one' from someone else on the internet etc.etc.

That is why 'customer service' simply tells you to 'ship it back for reason of 'not as described' as you can only SUSPECT it's fake and only when eBay receives many complaints, will they do something; simply because complaints have been known to come from competitors on all online platforms for the past few years to simply 'knock out' the competition.

Already did that.  And again, buyers shouldn’t be at the mercy of scammers to refund for counterfeit currency.  The seller only wants to refund me half of the purchase, and I have to wait another 5 days before eBay will do anything.  eBay should intervene as soon as it’s determined to be counterfeit and take serious action.

I suggest you read the law on counterfeit currency, you are flat out wrong.  Thanks.

I do actually, I video’d the entire thing from pulling the package out of the mailbox to removing the coins, weighing them, measuring and cutting it because I knew a smart ass like you would make that claim.

No, I’m not mailing counterfeit currency back to the scammer.  Next.

Next.

Video is also not an acceptable proof to ebay. Can easily be edited; item changed etc. etc.

Re: Scammers selling counterfeit currency and eBay doesn’t care

Video tape is worthless. Ebay can't even view video tape. I mean how do we know that is the same exact package that the seller sent.  Any video can be manipulated. Even when you show yourself opening a box, how do we know that you did not switch out the item by opening the box from the bottom?  or even from the top and you print a new label and tape it to the box and then start the video tape.

Anyway, go ahead and open an item NOT described case.

To others,  it is a FEDERAL crime to mail anything counterfeit. I just got a refund for a pair of fake clark shoes that I got elsewhere.  The **bleep** seller had a name that looked like he was in the USA.  The shoes arrived wrapped up in a baggie. The package looked like the seller mailed me a hero sandwich. Anyway,  paypal immediately reversed the payment when I told them that the seller wanted me to return the shoes back to China and I did not want to commit a crime sending counterfeit items through the mail.  My refund was approved immediately.

That’s not true at all, but obviously no one would forensically analyze a video for something like this.

What I find more interesting than eBay not taking this seriously, is the buyer shaming going on right now.  Luckily losing a few hundred dollars doesn’t matter to me, but it’s a shame eBay let’s these scams continue (there are dozens of them posted right now), and buyers are shamed for not doing enough to stop it.

Seems you missed the part where you dented your neighbor?

Please quote the USPS rules on counterfeits, everyone would need to be aware.

Forget the mailing it back legal part...have you opened a case and has the seller actually provided you any funds or labels to mail it back ?

Re: Scammers selling counterfeit currency and eBay doesn’t care

No, they offered to refund me half and I keep the coins lol.  There were several negative reviews in the past few days that popped up, in which people were saying the seller was refusing to refund unless they deleted the negative reviews.  Well guess what?  All the negative reviews are gone now.  Now I have to wait 5 days for eBay to even do anything about it despite escalating it already and providing proof that the coins are counterfeit.  It’s a shame.

I missed it?  I literally posted it lol.  The ONLY reason I cut it in half is because he dropped it and I already determined it was fake with my digital calipers.

What's not true?? That eBay doesn't accept Video??

It's 100% true. Ebay does NOT accept video for proof of anything.

I had an Army buddy about 15 years ago get shipped some counterfeit items while we were deployed and the FBI investigated him and threatened to strip his security clearance.

Re: Scammers selling counterfeit currency and eBay doesn’t care

I deposited a fake $20. in my bank a while back with my tips . Basically, I lost that $20. There is no reimbursement or anything. Bank never even told me anything until I asked about it. Didn't even get to see it.

Yours looks like a token and not real money so I would return it for a refund. It is broken already so it's not like you are passing it on as real money or going to buy something with it or sell it.

Lol what?  🤦🏻‍ It’s definitely counterfeit currency.  It’s silver plated brass which aside from the thickness is a near exact replica of a silver Eagle.  That’s a felony.
