SMOKING DISCLOSURE

I am extremely disappointed that EBay does not require sellers to disclose if an item is from a smoking home or place.  I purchased a handbag from a smoking home and the smell does not come out.  Of course this seller does not accept returns, now I know why.

This item was so stinking and foul smelling I threw it away.  Did not want to give to charity because it wouldn’t be fair to buyer.

For this reason I am thinking of leaving the EBay platform.

Re: SMOKING DISCLOSURE

Sellers can have a No Returns policy.

It means they never want to see the item again.

Sellers cannot have a No Refunds policy.

Open a Claim for Not As Described.
You can do this from the original invoice.

If you are not sent a Return Shipping Label, the seller gets a Defect for non-cooperation and you get refunded.

Then you dispose of the item as you see fit.

If you do get a Return Shipping Label, you will be refunded when the purse shows delivered back to the seller.

But keep an eye on tracking and remember to escalate the Claim if the seller is not prompt with the refund.

Re: SMOKING DISCLOSURE

Ebay is nothing more than the 'old style' newspaper ad..

where you PAY for an Ad in the Paper (private party seller) and a 'buyer' needs to 'ask questions' BEFORE purchasing.

You REALLY need to be ONLY disappointed in yourself for your lack of 'due diligence'.

With 'used' things coming from all parts of the globe, it is QUITE feasible to come from a 'smoking' house..or the seller 'bought the item to resell' and IT came from a Smoking house.

Either way, it's NOT ebay's 'thing' to have to 'disclose' ANYTHING- it's only eBay's thing to state 'all 'information is from the seller'....

as they do.

Re: SMOKING DISCLOSURE

You could return it as per Money Back Guarantee, the money back guarantee supercedes any no returns policy a seller has.
And because you had one bad experience you want to leave eBay, ok but announcing it isn’t necessary, wish you well where ever you go.

Re: SMOKING DISCLOSURE

Smoke smell does not always come from a smoking home. I get items. from garage sales, storage facilities and from Ebay that smell like smoke. When I have been near a group of smokers I reek of smoke afterwards.

Re: SMOKING DISCLOSURE

Smelling of smoke is a defect.

A seller who does not describe defects is going to have to take back as not as described any item and refund you or Ebay will, if you follow the money back guarantee procedures.

There are fewer smokers and smoker's homes when there were in the past, and it was not less important when many of Ebay's policies were written.
