Returning a lot…

Hey y’all, long time buyer and seller here. I have a conundrum and need some advice. Bought a jewelry estate lot recently; the seller hadn’t sold much jewelry and it said untested and antique along with junk. Ok, pretty basic. I looked at the pics carefully and saw a piece that made me super excited because I thought it was something good. Along with the rest, and the description (was jumbled up and not laid out) I figured I could make my money back. Well, I get the lot. The “antique” stuff is repro, the rest is pretty much junk, the “untested” is either not worth testing (base metal, turned) or actually has been tested. The piece I had banked on was plastic costume. 😣 Now, we aren’t talking little money here, close to $600. I literally have NEVER returned a lot, usually just ate the loss, but I just don’t know if I can swallow this one. What would y’all do? I mean, it would help with taxes, but…

The "antique" items aren't actually antique and the "untested" items had been tested?  That sounds like you have a return claim based on "Not as described."

Well you took the risk, looked at all the photos, thought you saw what you didn't see. Why would you complain after the fact? I just think that would be wrong.

I say this constantly -

eBay is NOT the platform to be buying jewelry.

There are 3 things you could do:

1) Open a SNAD dispute

2) Deal with the seller and figure this out

3) Take a deep breath and swallow hard

Good Luck

I understand the risk. However, when items have been tested, and are listed as untested, and “antique” items are not antique, am I not being misled? I am not getting what I thought I was getting, especially when you lay out that much money. I figured for that much, it would have at least some redeeming qualities.

Have you ever returned a lot? I am not a dishonest person, so I will return every single item, but I am expecting problems.

I buy jewelry all the time on here, but from a select few sellers. I just rarely buy lots like this anymore, for this exact reason. So obviously occasionally I need a reminder why. And this is it.

I have never returned a lot. But I have read many posts which indicate that eBay always gives the buyer the benefit of the doubt in these situations.
