Report Seller

I bought an item from a seller. It arrived but the labels were from a different seller on Amazon. The eBay seller had given my name and address to a seller on a different platform that I didn’t have a transaction with! I had to return it because it didn’t work the return labels had been personally emailed to me because they were from Amazon.

I left negative feedback because it came from Amazon. Totally misrepresented where and who it was coming from. Now seller has asked that I change the feedback so it doesn’t negatively affect them.

How do I report the seller and not just the item?

So funny you should post that. I just posted a question to a seller asking how tall a doll was that he was selling. He said he would have to get back to me as he needs to check with someone at his warehouse.

Dropshipper. And thank you but I am no longer interested.

I don't dropship.

I do have a warehouse in another location.

If I had that question I would give pretty  much the same answer "I'll have to check the warehouse and get back to you".

Yes, but if it is in your warehouse wouldn't you at least have seen the item at one time and be somewhat familiar with it?

This seller from his answer, obviously has never laid eyes on that doll.

No I don't know the specific details of all 75,000 items in my warehouse! Especially true for ones I wrote a description for 5 years ago and I get someone asking for an exact measurement.

Amazon sellers use an app to list their merchandise on eBay, with eBay's blessing, and other dual eBay/Amazon sellers who list directly on eBay still use FBA to fill their eBay orders.   And yes, if you have to return it, it needs to go back to FBA where their inventory is at.

If there's a problem with the item, and the seller didn't take care of it, then neg. away.  But don't just neg. someone because you don't approve of their order fulfillment provider.

At least you left the Neg.  That's a start.

If enough people do that, maybe sellers will think twice about doing what yours did.

I'm not sure how you figured that the seller compromised the OP's privacy.  If giving the name and address of the buyer to a drop shipper does so, would giving it to any carrier such USPS, UPS or FedEx be tantamount to the same thing?

Frankly, it reminds me of people that worry so much about people getting their checking account information, but think nothing about paying their bills by writing a check and sending it through the mail.  If you come to think about it, the simple act of paying someone with a check, gives them not only the name of your bank, but also your account number, routing number and a sample of your signature.

Because if the seller were going to do that,  he should at least have a disclaimer somewhere prominently displayed in the listing that purchases made from him may ship directly from his "supplier" and that if the buyer is not comfortable with that arrangement, as it entails sharing the buyer's address with the supplier, the buyer should not buy or bid, as the case may be.

This is NOT the same as a shipping service being given your address. The shipping carriers cannot be compared to ecommerce sites as being similar, either in scope, purpose, or liability.

The example of a check is a different matter entirely,  as there are safeguards in place and recourse options available to bank account holders if their information is stolen or compromised.

I don't have an issue with dropshipping per se. What I do have a problem with are dropshippers who do not disclose that status to would-be buyers by blatantly stealing another website's intellectual property, their word for word descriptions,, and  their images, and presenting them as their own.

Re: Report Seller

BTW, for the people here who have a huge problem with this, eBay has reserved the right (via the UA) to place your listing on other sites.  So your item might well appear on Amazon (or another site) one day, and your buyer might be surprised to have it arrive in one of those eBay branded boxes you got for free.  I hope they don't neg. you... or call you a drop shipper...

Hmmm. Did not know that.

What I do know is that if I buy something on eBay,  I'm not gonna be happy if it ships to me directly from Amazon. If this is indeed the case, I want to know that upfront

BEFORE I commit to buy.  Especially if I can order it myself directly from Amazon with 2 day Prime shipping.

And, what the heck is FBA? #SSOATA

Fulfillment by Amazon.  Seller sends bulk inventory to Amazon, Amazon ships as needed to fill the seller's orders.  They will fill orders for other venues than just Amazon.

It could be a drop shipper too... but not every item that comes in a new Amazon box with Amazon shipping labels is a dropshipper...

"JoeLister is the easiest, fastest way to list and fulfill your Amazon inventory on eBay. Sit back and enjoy the future of multi-channel selling.  When your items sell on eBay and the payment is received, Joe automatically passes the order to Amazon for shipping. Joe also uploads tracking numbers to eBay."

BORING.jpg

Given who works in the Amazon plant and how fast they have to work, I really doubt they have the time or the interest in recording some random customer's information.

Now an eBay seller who has a few sales a month and a lot of downtime, HE might decide you are his new crush.

Re: Report Seller

You don't report anything as there is nothing to report. You got your items. Next time maybe shop the other site and get it cheaper like your seller did.

Actually, I would say that USPS, UPS or FedEx is pretty much larger than many online market sites.  Frankly, there have been numerous cases of letter carriers not delivering mail they were charged with delivering that went on for months and sometimes years before they were found out.  I can't say that that says much about the safeguards that they have in place.

While I'm not a fan of drop shipping, there is nothing inherently wrong with a seller drop shipping from Amazon any more than them doing it from the manufacturer.  In fact, the seller may also be the seller of the item on Amazon and using their fulfillment center to store their goods.  How many sellers restrict their business activities strictly to eBay?

Of course, I imagine eBay could make one of their rules to force sellers to identify their source of goods when drop shipping.  They could also insist that sellers divulge the source of their goods even if they do not drop ship.  I'm not sure how well that would go over.  I can imagine people viewing listings merely to learn the sources where they can obtain the items.

Actually, I use to give the source of most of the items I listed at auction.  Provenance can add to the value of an item.  However, I'm not sure most fixed price sellers would feel comfortable giving away the names of their suppliers.

If you ever lose a check book, you may take a different view of how secure our banking system really is these days.  Alas!  I remember the days when I kept books of counter checks on my desk from all the local banks for my customer's convenience.  Those days are long gone I'm afraid.

When it comes to stealing intellectual property, there is no way for a buyer to know if the seller is using that property with permission of the owner or not.  There would be little, except notify the rights owner, if they did know.  Only the actual rights owner can take action.
