Payment problems

When is eBay going to fix it's payment problems? I've came here a month ago and complained about this.

I buy a lot of items here. So maybe it only happens to me. Every once in a while like every tenth purchase, I buy the item and go to check out as soon as I hit the first pay button it goes right straight to your orders in. Every time that happens you can be sure that the payment came out of a checking account that I never use.

It's happened five or six times in a month. The first time it happened I bounced a check. I had no idea that the money would come from there.  I just decided to keep extra money, if there is such a thing in that account. Well it happened twice today and the last time no matter how careful I was it did it again and there was not enough money in the account to cover the purchase. It's Friday night! Banks not open tomorrow or I would be there when they opened like I had to do two weeks ago.

To solve my dilemma I canceled the order.

Sellers some times wonder why a buyer would by some thing and minutes later cancel the order, Well here you go. I sent a message to the seller explaining this.

Been here for decades. Stopped selling because of B S and now it looks like I'm going to close my account!

Re: Payment problems

It is not possible for a buyer to cancel their Ebay order. They can only REQUEST that the seller cancel the transaction.

Is it possible to remove the offending account from your list of funding sources?

Re: Payment problems

The problem is not the buyer's funding source. I just had an item item in my cart for 3 weeks, that I couldn't checkout with, and the issue was finally fixed today and I completed checkout. I was using the same funding source for every other transaction just fine, and there were many. At first ebay tried to fix it and had me attempt payment at least 9 times and each time my card would authorize it but would fail after pending at PP for a few minutes. Every time they had me try I had a new pending charge on my card. Then 2 days ago they wanted me to delete all my cards from my account and reenter them ,I refused to go through that step...Now finally after my last contact with them, after 3 weeks it is fixed. Ebay blamed the problems on their new payment system

@marinermikes,

   "Every once in a while like every tenth purchase, I buy the item and go to check out as soon as I hit the first pay button it goes right straight to your orders in. Every time that happens you can be sure that the payment came out of a checking account that I never use".

Are you using PayPal to make your payments? If you are you should probably remove the debit card or bank account you no longer use from your payment options on PayPal. Make sure your default payment option is one you do not have to worry about manually transferring funds to.  Make sure your information on that site is up to date.  if you do use Paypal, are you making sure that the blue PayPal box/ button that loads just below the payment total box is hot and that you click on it?

Because of ebay's new managed payment system, if you are not selecting PayPal, check your ebay account saved financial info to see what methods you have stored. If the not often used account is in it remove or replace it with the account you want to use.

If you are spending a lot of time online the issue could be caused by having too many temporary internet files and a full cookie cache.  If you have a utility that will clear them, you may need to set it to clean them out more often.  Some of the cookies being used these days can cause issues with site operations.

Re: Payment problems

I'm not in managed payments.  I only have a couple of ways to pay on file. Pay Pal, Pay pal credit and that checking account. Pretty simple. At this point I can no longer buy here. I can't take the chance it's going to try to take money out of that account. The idea of unlinking that bank account be great except it's my required back up and no I'm not maxed out on pay pal credit. Thanks for your reply.

Re: Payment problems

@marinermikes,

  "I'm not in managed payments."

Only sellers are enrolled in Manage Payments, most buyers do not know it exists or that ebay and PayPal are now separate companies, and that ebay will be removing them as a payment option in a few years.

What is supposed to be your default  PayPal payment option is it a PayPal balance,  bank balance, debit/credit card from a different account?   Do you use PayPal one touch payment option to pay, where you don't have to login when paying?  Do you stop to see which payment source is being used by PayPal when checking out?

That's just it. Every once in a while there is no payment option! As soon as I hit the first pay button it says thank you for your purchase. That's when I know it came from the wrong place.

Pay Pal Balance is my default. I don't have a credit card on file. Never have.

I'm a seller here. Been selling for fifteen years. Just haven't lately. Never got invited to managed payments.

Never heard of one touch payment option but that sounds like it. Don't want that.

Thank you for your reply.
