As I was unaware of the change, I was shocked this morning when I found my offer yesterday was accepted and I was not allowed to click on the email that said so, and said now complete transaction and pay for your purchase, which allows me to go in and select how I want to pay and where I want it shipped to. I see there was 4 minutes between the "congratulations offer accepted, now complete and pay" email, and the email taking my money and not allowing me to do what I needed to do.
For those who say it's due to buyers not paying and that buyers agreed to pay... yes buyers do agree to pay and occasionally some do not. I am both a seller and buyer (10,000+ buying & selling transactions over 25 years or so).
As a seller, it's just part of doing business that on rare occasions items don't get paid for and I have to relist them.
As a buyer my issue with this policy is I should be the one to choose, HOW I want to pay for MY purchase, and WHERE I need MY purchase shipped to! This policy takes all control of what should be MY decisions. Now my item is being shipped to the wrong address!! How many people's Christmas gifts did not get to their intended recipients due to not knowing eBay changed this.
So, now I can only purchase thru Buy it Now so I can then choose my payment and shipping address.
No more making an offer on anything, and no more bidding on auctions as I assume that works the same way.

Thank you to those that pointed out I can change payment & shipping address as I'm making my offer, yes, I breezed right past that without seeing it!

When you made the offer there would have been the pre-authorization statement which also would have let you select what payment method.
If you weren't expecting the change though you may have breezed past it not seeing it

Yes, you're correct, auctions are the same way now. Happened to me just the other day, the moment I bid.

You still get to choose payment method and ship to address. The only difference is you do it when making the offer instead of after it's accepted. It gets the buyers items shipper quicker too in many cases.
The problem was there are buyers that think if their offer is accepted, they STILL get to decide if they want to buy it at that price or not. Not all that different than buy it now items that require you to pay right away.

I will look for that! As someone else commented I may have breezed right past it without seeing it!

This wasn't something that ebay just "did." You agreed to it, whether you read the notice or not.
Making an offer is still an obligation if that offer is accepted.

Yep, already said that in my rant. And now, I see that I can change the payment and the shipping address during making the offer, so the point of my rant is now moot!
