Like the title says.

Done with paypal. Any rational person would know why. Does ebay allow any other ways to pay that sellers can use? Am I done with ebay as a result?

Granted I don't buy a lot of stuff from ebay, but if sellers can't offer any other payment forms I'll have to use other platforms especially if they are chinese sellers.

The available payment methods people can use on ebay are PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Direct card payments, and cash (for local pickup items only). eBay is supposed to end payments to sellers through PayPal sometime next year. They sold off PayPal in 2015, and added the other payment methods a few years ago.

I do not know what your issue with PayPal is, but it is a very secure site, and offers 180 day buyer protections. There is also ebay' Money Back Guarantee, which if you read its policies and time frames, offers excellent protections.

@mudshark61369the problem is PayPal attempted to charge, then retracted, a wrongthink fine. I am done with them. I know they accept credit cards directly but they still use PayPal as a processing portal for them. I guess I will have to wait until next year when PayPal is no longer the credit card processing portal for them and/or shop where I can do local pickup and pay cash.

Based on your title, it sounds like you're asking the question as a buyer.

As a buyer, when you pay through the ebay order, you can use your credit card, debit card , apple pay, google pay, and possibly other methods. (And for those who like Paypal, they can use PP too.)

The problem is, if I use a credit card, PayPal is used as the processing portal, which means they get a cut.

I do not want PayPal to get ONE SINGLE DIME of my money. EVER.

I do not have an apple product. I supposed I could set something up with google pay via gift cards to fund the account or something. If that's what I have to do to keep my money out of PayPal's hands, that's what I have to do ...

Something is not right. Adyen is eBay's payment processor unless you made the payment through PayPal.

When did that change? The last time I bought something and used my credit card, I could have sworn it was processed through PayPal because it gave me the option to log into a paypal account (which I haven't had since 2005) or continue as a guest. But after recent events, I don't even want to do that.

When did the switch happen?

Everyone had to officially be enrolled in the managed payments that was through Ayden by may 2021

Hi @themath_64

eBay has been switching sellers from PayPal processing payments for several years … ending it completely last year.

Buyers have several payment options available to them that totally bypass PayPal … so it’s possible to have a totally PayPal-free experience on eBay.

No, Pay Pal doesn't process the payments any more.

That is not necessarily true.

It's only true if you pay through PayPal with a credit card that you attached to your PayPal account, probably years ago when PayPal was new and all the rage. Then, yes, anytime you pay (to anybody, not just to eBay) through PayPal, telling PayPal to charge your XYZ Credit Card, then PayPal will "get a cut," as you say.

But now, and for the last few years, here on eBay no buyer is required to pay through PayPal. When I buy things on eBay these days, I usually choose to have the charges applied to my debit card which is directly linked to my checking account. I did buy something earlier this year that I chose to buy with a credit card. But it's a new card that I did not have when I opened a PayPal account -- what -- 12 years ago? PayPal does not "know" about that credit card. Thus, PayPal got no "cut" of that transaction.

For now, I strongly suggest you make sure none of your credit cards, and none of your bank accounts, are connected to PayPal.
