I used the automated search for motorcycle carburetors of various types. Over the past few months have noticed sellers of foreign made parts that can't possibly fit or be of use for the type of carburetors I search on have put these same carburetors into the "will fit" or add them in bulk to their sales so all that shows up when I get my daily search results are these inferior foreign made and generally generic parts that might fit a motor scooter. Is there any way to alert eBay that these sellers are making automatic searches a waste of time? They also list the SAME items dozens of times.

That is all over eBay. I have seen motorcycle rims listed to fit cars and trucks. Some not as described refunds will let them know the info in not correct. Those model and year look ups too are riddled with errors.

My question isn't about bidding carefully, it is about cheap foreign items listed as "fitting" the carburetors or carburetor parts I am looking for. These listing couldn't possibly work with the carburetors or carburetor parts I am looking for and the sellers are misrepresenting these parts for many possible applications so they will show up in the maximum number of searches. Not only is this stuff junk but it can not be made to work with or fit the applications the sellers claim it will. When I set up an automated search for Kawasaki KZ1000 carburetors, these folks will list parts for Chinese made carburetors appropriate for scooters and claim these are a direct fit. It has gotten much worse in recent years and makes searches a nightmare.

I sympathize with you, but this isn't ebay's problem. The "fitment lists" ebay uses are created by one of 4 companies who compile info sent from Mfrs. from around the world. Thoe company's lists are found on many sites, and computer lists parts retailers use. Unfortunately, like eBay the companies that create those lists, cannot possibly check each set of specs given, to see if the info they receive is true. The chinese companies who manufacture the replacement parts know of that short coming, and purposely misrepresent the items they sell as fitting vehicles or engine components, when they know they do not.
If you repair enough things as a hobby, sideline, or as a business it may be worth it to you to subscribe to one of the companies that have the OEM parts lists and/or shop manuals online. You can then use the OEM part number and check the illustrations when searching for replacement part. I no longer buy parts online that do not have an OEM or recognizable brand of after market parts, for the things I repair.
