I want to report a fake phone sold to me .
Went to report content, product or listing, intellectual property (IP ) infringement, counterfeit item.
But where I type additional details, it keeps giving errors : additional details invalid?
Any ideas why?
Thanks

We would need to see a link to the page you are trying to type that message on, to offer an explanation of why you cannot finish typing your message.
If you are trying to leave feedback after losing a dispute for not as described, or after receiving a refund, because you opened a dispute. That may be why you are getting the message. If you are trying to post a report about a seller, ebay may not accept your counterfeit claim, because they cannot verify that you have the knowledge to be able to tell the difference. They do have to protect sellers from unproven accusations after all.
If you have received a counterfeit or different brand phone than you have ordered. All you have to do to report the seller and get a refund is to go to your purchase history Open the More actions box, select Return item, then from the list of reasons for the return, select Does not match photos or Description.
Once you've opened a dispute, it will appear on your My ebay summary page. The seller will have 3 days to send you a return shipping label or issue a refund, if they do not want to pay the return shipping cost. If they haven't done that, on day 4 you can open the dispute and use the Ask ebay to step in button. Not only will you get a refund, but the seller will get a defect on their account, and have to pay the transaction fees, for the sale.
Judging from the feedback you have received, you do not seem to check seller's feedback profile pages before buying from them. Two of the last 4 you have bought from have terrible feedback percentages for high volume sellers. One is located in Sri Lanka which means all of their items are drop shipped from China, home of the worst trademark and copyright offenders in the world.

I forgot to mention, If you received an item that went through ebay's Authentication process, that could be why you cannot report the item as fake or counterfeit. They do not believe their authenticators can make mistakes.

Are there parenthesis in your text? When I remove those the error goes away.

actually had to remove all special characters, except for periods and commas -- I think. But finally got it to work.

"actually had to remove all special characters, except for periods and commas"
Well that would be just plain dumb, it is 2024 last time I checked.
So I did as you suggested, only comas and periods, still can't get past that message.

Well, you're probably using an apostrophe like you did in your post here. Crazy us, huh? Trying to use a dangerous apostrophe on the web? I finally tracked down that was what was causing "Details Invalid" for me. You can use a backtick ` and it accepts that!
Now would an eBay mod please come by and close this thread due to being old, rather than fixing the website?

This is what worked for me. It's frustrating that there is no clear indication why the content cannot be submitted. I removed parenthesis, but the error message didn't disappear. When I started removing hyphens (-), it finally disappeared.
Maybe they are attempting to teach me a lesson in proper punctuation and grammar? 🙂

You're 8 months too late replying to this thread from May 2024. I doubt the person you are replying to will see your post since they haven't logged into this forum since posting in this thread in July 2024.
